Palacio Duhau - Park Hyatt Buenos Aires
Ranked #15 of 440 Hotels in Buenos Aires
Certificate of Excellence

We stayed at the Park Hyatt in BA for 8 days during a 2 week trip to Argentina. We opted to stay in the old mansion section based on a friend's review and were happy we did. The hotel and its rooms are very well-appointed, but it is the service that makes this a 5-star hotel. The concierge was both knowledgeable and approachable; every restaurant he picked was totally on the mark. My wife and I were consistently impressed with how the rooms were cleaned; everything on the floor would be folded, countertops neatly organized, etc.

If we return to BA on a future trip, there is absolutely no question where we will stay; the Park Hyatt.

We stayed for 5 nights in March and had the most incredible time. We were in the new building, corner room, 13th floor looking across the garden, back at the Palace. It was beautiful and the service could not have been better. In particular a concierge by the name of Alejandro made the time we spent in BA much more enjoyable by recommending extraordinary restaurants and giving us advice that we consistently spot-on. We came to trust him implicitly. For example Paru, (Peruvian and Sushi)- was off the charts great.

The gym is really good, we worked out every day. Lovely 25 meter pool. Its too bad that is totally inside - it would have been nice to be able to get some sun while swimming - but that is pretty minor.

The neighborhood could not be better and it was terrific as a starting point for long jogs, wrapping around the cemetery and then down to Puerto Madero.

I would go back in a minute.

We just returned from 2 nights in this jaw-droppingly beautiful hotel. We loved our room -- modern yet comfortable -- and experienced wonderful, warm service. We had lunch and tea in the restaurants and found the service slow, but we didn't mind waiting when the environment was so lovely. The food, when it eventually came, was worth the wait. I couldn't resist taking photos of the decor for my own home design file. My husband is a swimmer and he loved the 25 meter pool.

We had actually planned on having tea at the Alvear Palace Hotel, just to check it out, since it is just a few blocks away. We went over there to make a reservation, walked in, saw the restaurant, and turned around and walked out. The Alvear Palace is a grand old hotel, very formal, lots of brass and dark wood and floral upholstery. It's the kind of place my grandparents and even my parents love to stay at. But my husband and I are in our late 30s, and that style of decor or service doesn't appeal to us at all. We walked back to the Palacio Duhau and cherished every minute there. We practically wept when we had to leave.

The only downside is that the neighborhood is kind of formal and staid... all of the hot new restaurants are in Palermo or other neighborhoods, and the street scene is just much more lively and fun in Palermo. But if you want to be based in Recoleta, there is no question in my mind that this is the place to stay.

The rooms were lovely, and the gardens were gorgeous. The front desk was a little slow to respond, but they were always pleasant. I would highly recommend this hotel if you're visiting Buenos Aires!

it feels like you are staying in a convention hall. the clientele is mostly business and older folks. the pool is for laps. although the old building is quite nice, much of the contemporary art is appalling, particularly the giant band aids on the walls in the rooms. the breakfast service was slow, the atmosphere formal. the concierge tried to be helpful but fumbled every last task

Room Tip: if you choose to stay here, ask for the old building
