We (four friends) went to Casa Saltshaker last night and it was one of our best experiences in BA! The food was beyond amazing (all of us lean on the foodie side) and since we are spending plenty of time in Argentina, we didn't mind that this one meal was not "Argentinian" in flavor. It was fun to have a surprise of flavors - all five courses with wines were fantastic. Everyone at the table cleaned their plates each time. As for the mix of guests at our table... Wonderful! We had a couple from Australia, one gal from Switzerland, one guy from Rome, and a couple from the US. All the guests at the table were well traveled and exchanged stories easily... So much so that Dan had to wait on us to finish conversing to tell us about our next course! (which he did so very patiently) You could tell that Dan would have stepped in to move conversation along if needed but our table was quite lively. We would highly recommend this experience for those travelers who are fun, flexible in trying new (well prepared) meals, and those who enjoy getting to know new people. For us, it was our best experience in BA thus far.

Happy to hear we were one of your best stops in Buenos Aires, that's gratifying to hear, though I hope you had other great ones! Thanks for being a part of the mix.

Casa Saltshaker proved to an exciting change of pace from the restaurant scene in Buenos Aires. Served in the home of the chef, Dan Perlman, the meal and wine pairings were excellent. The intimacy of the setting with only a small number of dinner guests provides a unique opportunity to meet other people in a friendly and informal environment (other diners on this evening were also visitors to Buenos Aires from several different countries). Buenos Aires certainly has its own growing restaurant scene but Casa Saltshaker was a highlight of the dining we had on this trip. The website is also a fabulous resource for dining in Buenos Aires at other Puertas Cerradas as well as the local dining scene.

Thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Casa Saltshaker. The meal and the wine parings were excellent, along with the intros that Dan gave at the beginning of each course. We had an amazing evening conversing with new people and learning about their varied interests and travels. Casa Saltshaker is a definite must do if you are ever in Buenos Aires!

The menu was a bit of an odd mix, but overall good quality food. The portions were big for a 5 course menu but on the other hand, you do not have to finish every dish if you don't feel like it. The wines were great.

The main attraction however was to meet a quite random group of people who in our dinner all turned out to be fun and interesting. Somehow eating nice food in someone else's home with people I didn't know but with who I seemed to have common interests reminded me of expat life.

We don't want people to go away hungry! It is pretty fascinating how quickly people from different walks of life find common interests to talk about - a big part of the fun of these evenings!
