Description: One of the first signature chef restaurants in the Cape Winelands, the Jordan Restaurant with George Jardine brings top chef George Jardine’s brand of contemporary fare from city to country. The focus on the flavours of locally sourced, seasonal ingredients is evident from his kitchen vegetable and herb garden to wine barrel fish smoker and wood-fired oven. Expect smoky, smouldering country flavours in simple combinations on a contemporary plate – with signature smoked yellowtail, steamed Saldanha mussels, seared ribeye and springbok potroast. The main ingredient is enhanced by smoked garlic, aubergine, fennel, prune or potato puree. A trip to the walk-in cheese room to select your own board of artisanal Cape farm cheeses with preserves and breads rounds off a spectacular meal. Vintages from Jordan Wine Estate form the cornerstone of the restaurants wine list.

We went there for lunch and I must add.. Went there because of reviews..mussels were amazing and so was my colleague's chicken broth. Was super disappointed with our mains.. I love steak but this one drowning on a plate of hollandaise was seriously ill presented and completely over killed the main component.. The steak.. Leave it to the guest to dress as to their liking... Or perhaps not the whole plate full.. A nice little dressing jug(sauce bowl) would be something to consider? Great view... Service was nice but also almost trying too hard from waiter .. But the Manager (a guy) looked insecure and nervous...

We ate here several years ago and it became an instant favorite. Again this year the food was amazing and for travelers from the USA still a great deal. The setting at the winery by the dam is lovely and in the winter cozy fires keep you comfy. All of the seating has a view of the very busy kitchen and the food that comes out is always great. We found the restaurant staff to be somewhat standoffish, unusual in an area where staff is usually effusive.

We had lunch here before our wine tasting. The staff are friendly and the food was excellent - with the picture window overlooking the vines, pond and mountains it is a truel special location to have lunch.

My wife and I booked a table here on our recent trip to the Western Cape upon recommendation from the lodge we were staying in. We travellef to Stellenbosch in our UK summer so it was South African winter when we arrived. We were welcomed by the lovely staff and taken to our table where we were presented with an extensive list of wines from the Jordan estate and the menus for the evening.

We opted for the ridiculously good value winter 5 course menu with wine pairing. This menu provided two starters, two mains and a dessert, each with a wine paired to the course. The waiters brought us a delicious selection of breads before the starters arrived. These included cornbread, flatbread and butter rolls along with homemade butter and aoli which was delicious.

The waiters were hugely experienced and explained the choices behind the wine pairings for each course before it arrived. They even explained the type of glass used for each wine and told us that the staff choose the pairings after they sit and eat their way through the tasting menu together. It was lovely to have staff who were this involved with what they were presenting you with and really knew the ins and outs of the flavours and how the dish had been prepared. We were treated to a host of amazing dishes including onion risotto, mussels in coconut milk, hake with a smoked hake velouté, sirloin steak and spinach cream and finally white chocolate ice cream with a mandarin foam and hand made marshmallows rolled in toasted coconut.

The whole experience from start to finish was incredible and we couldn't believe the value either, coming in at just over £60 for the both of us including tip. I'd highly recommend visiting Jordan Restaurant, it really shouldn't be missed.

This is somewhat a hidden gem. It takes quite a drive to get there - but you won't regret. After a wine tasting, take a lunch in the restaurant. Small, but very good selection of dishes. Open kitchen concept. Make sure you reserve in advance, normally well booked.
