A research committee with members from different countries met here for an unofficial farewell. What a pleasant surprise for our international delegates. Excellent food, good wines and reasonable service for a packed restaurant at peak times.

THIS IS A QUALITY RESTAURANT. It was so good that we ate here twice. It is more expensive than many other restaurants in the V & A area, but to us it was well worth the money. I had Kudu [R248] – Kudu steak was tough, but I guess that is a characteristic of this meat; and onion blossom. R87. and a seafood platter. This contained: Prawns, swordfish, mussels, calamari. [R699]

For our second meal here, I had crocodile.

We would surely want to eat here again.

Dear PPPEssex, thank you for the Trip Advisor review. We apologise for the tough Kudu, but it is often the dryness, not toughness, that people mention. It is a very lean cut of meat, so if cooked more thatn rare to med-rare, it tends to give the impression of being tough. We appreciate the review very much and hope to have you dine with us again soon. Regards, Andrew

One of the few grill houses that can serve a decent steak and recommend a decent bottle of wine .This restaurant can get very busy but its worth the wait if you dont book.

Returned here my last night in Cape Town, because I was solo and it was very good (food, wine, service) when my friend and I visited first time. Second visit not so much -- prawns were overcooked, fries were nothing special. On first visit, I had the catch of the day -- sea bass -- excellent. The choice of wines is incredible -- claims to have largest wine menu anywhere and I believe it! Service very good both visits. Venue on waterfront is lovely.

This was our favourite restaurant in V&A last year and we hurried back this year. What a disappointment, my Kudu was dry and tough and my wife's fillet was also dry. They did not have some of the red wines on the wine list also and we settled for a middle of the road Shiraz.

Dear Leo, thank you for the Trip Advisor review. My apologies that the steaks were not cooked to your liking. We would have happily remade them for you, had this been mentioned to us. We do struggle sometimes with keeping every wine in stock, as we have over 700 wines, and some of the vintages change, so we need to wait for the wine farms to make the next one available. We hope to have you dine with us again soon. Regards, Andrew
