My husband, grandmother and myself stayed 5 nights at Protea Fire & Ice! in 2 rooms. We liked the hotel's decorating and style. We had booked standard rooms, which lacked some storage (we would have liked some more hanging space and hooks). The open bathroom layout might suit a married couple, but wouldn't suit everyone! Our room had an excellent view of Table Mountain.
The first morning, we discovered that the ceiling in our shower leaked, and we were promptly moved (and upgraded) to a king room, which had plenty of storage and a more private bathroom.
The buffet breakfast was excellent. We had dinner there once, and were happy with the range and price.
The only thing that let this hotel down was the concierge service for making restaurant bookings (they also book tours). Either the table was booked for the wrong number of people, or the wrong time, or they hadn't made the booking at all. We ended up asking reception to make our bookings, and confirming them whilst we were waiting. We were very pleased with the service given by Nicole.More
