Grounds are well kept and rooms spacious.
Evening buffet not very good as choice very poor. Could only recommend the freshly made stir fry. Staff quite slow to serve and clear away.
Very limited wi-fi in public areas and NO wi-fi in rooms.

Not Bad Hotel Near Kruger National Park, Only abt 20min drive. Nice big pool with mountain view. Modern & stylish dining room serving great buffet & breakfast. Rooms are a little old and bathroom doesn't drain well. Wifi only at the reception is a pain.

Dear Mea97tnh

GUESTS' perceptions of the service they receive whilst staying with Protea Hotel by Marriott Hazyview is the only true yardstick we have for measuring whether or not we have met their expectations. We would, therefore, like to thank you for taking the time to review us on TripAdvisor. I can assure you that your comments will be used constructively to maintain and improve, where necessary, our service levels and facilities.

Meeting and exceeding GUESTS' expectations can only be achieved through efficient and friendly, personalized service. GUEST feedback is imperative for us to ensure whether or not we are meeting and exceeding our GUESTS' expectations. As part of our continued commitment to renew our property décor, we have just completed renovations in our restaurant and this will elevate the guest experience so we can continue to create new memories with valued guests like you. Regarding Wi-Fi because of the area we are in and the amount of trees we have in our gardens it is challenging to have Wi-Fi in the rooms, but we are constantly seeing how we can best address this.
Thank you for assisting us in our ongoing drive for quality and enabling us to improve the hospitality offered to our guests. Your interest and concern are much appreciated. I do hope you will allow us the opportunity to be of service to you again and welcoming you to the Protea Hotel by Marriott Hazyview soon.

Kind regards,

Glenys du Pont

This was not really a good stay. With having the name Marriot I assumed it would be. Check in was not good or bad. No one offered to help us with our bags and the staff gave us a key and told us to walk up and to the right and didn’t explain anything else about the facility. WiFi was very slow and only available in the lobby! If there were too many people in the lobby it made it very slow and basically unable to use. There are no taxis or Uber’s in the area and the car service the hotel offers is very expensive. 20 usd to go down the road for food and 100 dollars to get to the airport. Also the restaurant at the hotel is only open certain hours and closes around 9 so no late night food. The bar is open for food though and while we were there they changed their menu and raised their prices, so we ordered a burger the first day and paid about 3 bucks cheaper then we paid for the same burger on the third day. I have to give praise to two staff members. Dolly was unbelievably helpful, nice, passionate, caring and sociable. She tended the bar every night we were there and she always wanted to make sure we were ok and had everything we needed. My boyfriend ordered a pasta dish that he didn’t like so just asked for a burger and she went and had what I believe to me the manager take it off the bill and give us a 10% discount. It was a very nice gesture and we didn’t accept it at all. The manager (didn’t get his name. White Caucasian male in late 40s I’m guessing). The male was very friendly and seemed to be working hard also. The room was basic and the tub was very old and dirty! The vent above the tub was disgusting. My boyfriend got eaten by mosquitoes all night in the room! The tours they offer at the front desks are more expensive than the tours you can book online (literally the same tour). The food overall was not good. We stuck to burgers because we were scared to try anything else. Even the burger wasn’t the best but it was edible.
I added the bathroom pics and mosquito bite pics. ( we used deet 100 all day at tours and dressed completely covered. He had two bites on him at the end of tour. He woke up multiple times in middle of the night while sleeping because he was getting bitten by mosquitoes in the room! He woke up to several marks!)

Dear Miss Jessica ,

Thank you for your valued feedback , we are extremely sorry as this certainly does not reflect the high standard of service and quality that Protea Hotel by Marriott Hazyview is usually proud to offer, I would like to confirm that the issue has been addressed with the relevant service providers for Shuttle Services. The HOD in Food and Beverage department has met with his team and issues addressed. We have a strict pest control schedule and can assure your that it is followed strictly , we will however address the type of chemical that is being used.

Again please accept our sincere apologies as this isn't the way we want you to remember your visit to Protea Hotel Hazyview.

Kind regards

On our way to Manyeleti Game Park, we stayed here for one night. I was happy that I had only booked the one night as the hotel is out dated, staff is not friendly (except in the restaurant) and price is too high. This adds to the fact that they tried to move us to Nelspruit because they said they were overbooked, even though I had a confirmed booking. I did not accept this. The Booking Manager was very un pleasant to work with and this hotel does not deserve the Marriott name at all. I will never stay here again, that is sure.
