The long crested eagle is a small lodget with several self catering cottages and some hotel rooms. Entering the lobby is allready as if you enter a safari lodge. Very friendly welcome. The gardens are beautiful, lots of tropical plants and lots of birds. The pool area is also very nice.
We booked a cottage for a very good rate (in high season this place can be expensive). The cottage had two bedrooms, is very private and has a kitchen and a lounge but also a nice terrace with a bbq. The only negative point was that there is only 1 bathroom so no ensuites.
The lodge is situated about 20 km outside of Hazyview, this makes it a bit more difficult if you want to go out to restaurants. In the lodge they have a restaurant with a set meal on drequest and a coffeeshop at the entrance of the road to the lodge (few kilometers distance from each other) .
We stayed two nights at this lodge, moved on to Marloth Park (South Kruger) but were so disappointed with that accommodation that we left half an our after arrival, back to the comforts of Long crested Eagle for a few extra nights.
Management is very helpful and friendly. Kruger entrance is about 30 km from lodge.
Highly recommended if you can get a good deal.More
