This is a very comfortable hotel where every room is different and unique. We had two stays, one before and one after our trip to the Victoria Falls. We were able to leave part of our luggage in storage and also received late check out on our last day before our flight back home. Very accommodating!

I have never been so impressed by anywhere before. The service, the rooms and the atmosphere of the residence is absolutely outstanding. We have enjoyed the spa facility's, pool and incredible restaurant. All 5 star. The kindness of all those who work here is also like none other, we have had the most incredible stay and hope to be back as soon as possible.

Room Tip: All rooms look outstanding and elegant. We had the jacuzzi suite and loved everything about it

We had an amazing start to our 3 week trip to Africa. The staff was very friendly and upon entry into a guarded spot we were welcomed and escorted to enjoy breakfast in the garden with birds and fish surrounding. Very Disney as far as it felt magical.
The rooms were also well appointed and spacious. Zen type music was playing in the rooms which gave it the perfect touch. Everything about the place was perfect. Definitely stay again.

The hotel is located in Houghton and very close to N. Mandela's house. The furnitures and all interiors are a in classical (british?) style, nevertheless tasteful. You will find small fountains everywhere which make a good atmosphere and climate. The booked penthouse suite has a very spacious terrace (80 sqm) and offers not only inside and outside jacuzzi as rain showers, but also several places/loungers to relax. Quality of the bed/pillows was excellent, too.
While food and service at dinner was ok, there is room for improvement wrt breakfast. Quality of ham, salami and cheeses definitely does not meet 5*-level. Also the service was a little inattentive.
Summarized The Regent is a small and individual boutique hotel and would be our choice again when returning to J'burg.

From the airport transfer we'd arranged via the hotel, we had top notch service from everyone at The Residence. Our room (I believe it was #6) was large with a private terrace and spa with outdoor shower and definitely more than we were expecting. As with most places in Joburg, the location was a little out of the way, but it didn't take us long to get anywhere via car.

I should also mention that the meals were exceptional. Breakfast was excellent and dinner was not only fantastic but also very good value compared to a couple of places we ate while we were in town.

If I had to find something to criticise, I'd say that some of the furnishings were a bit heavy, even if it's meant to be a slightly more formal hotel experience. In particular the ceilings are definitely too low for all the huge chandeliers hanging everywhere, hit my head on them at least a dozen times. No lasting injuries, though. :)
