“Township tour”
Review of Ocean Blue

During one of our trips to South Africa we were introduced to the Township in Plettenberg. Since then we have been back 3 times, each time we have booked the tour with Hazel. She is a very knowledgeable young lady who takes time to reassure her guests that a conducted tour of her Township is safe, as she lives there she is able to converse with her neighbours and provides a humorous resumee of what was being said. Hazel is very, very friendly and has a vast knowledge. I can recommend the Township tour with Hazel to any visitor.

Interesting marine excursion boat ride where we saw a large smelly seal colony with lots of babies and a couple of penguins. Hoped to see dolphins but none around and the wrong season for whales. Staff did try very hard to find more sea wildlife. 1.5 hrs was a bit too long for my liking, especially as we didn’t see much, but interesting getting the boat into the water. We all boarded an open boat that seats about 30 and then a tractor pushed us to the shore and catapulted us into the sea. When we got back the boat headed to the beach at 50 km an hour and beached itself. I was a bit shaky after riding the waves but luckily wasn’t sick. I did sit in the back which is supposed to be better against sea sickness. Apparently it was on the borderline of cancelling as it was getting a bit rough. Staff were reasonably friendly but I felt like they were just doing their job and had done it so many times that it was getting a bit boring. We were told to get there by 9 am but when we got there they were in a hurry. Apparently they meant we should be ready to leave by 9 am with our life jackets on and the briefing over. We were given a bottle of water and a small packet of dried fruit & nuts. Despite all the above I still enjoyed the ride very much and glad I did it.

My wife and I did this trip early in the day at 09.30 and not sure if this was the reason but we saw two whales, several dolphin, seals hunting and even a single penguin! Great tour well and safely organised and would recommend this company. They provide you with water and a dried fruit snack during the trip.

We had a fantastic well informed tour or the plettenberg township by the lovely Hazel. She answered all the questions we were curious about and made us feel 100%safe.It is a tour all visitors should do as you see how the other half live and feel quite humbled by how proud The township inhabitants are about the great success they have made of the school and nurseries which could only have happened with these tours by Ocean Blue.Keep up the good work.Hazel was a credit to her community.
