Our guide from the Pearl took us to Bird Island first. The birds here are soo friendly. They just stare back...even the small baby booby on a branch, all white and fluffy.
After Bird Island we went to a delicious green clear lagoon you want to float in forever.
Our guide returned with two green coconuts he carved open for the after float cocktail.
A sublime day.

Stayed here for little under a week with my wife in an overwater bungalow. The bungalow is great and has all facilities (though ours did not have airco, which others did. We didn't miss it as there was a nice breeze). Bungalows are pretty close but you do still have sufficient privacy. There is no other place to go for food then the restaurant, and you can see that in the prices they charge. Food was pretty good though and I understand that it is expensive to have everything brought in by air. Snorkeling is great near the overwater bungalows. Lots to see including sharks. Amazing place! We went to the supermarket in the village to buy some stuff; the hotel has a free boat service

This resort has an exceptional setting and as our first stop of four we were very impressed upon arrival. Our overwater bungalow was romantic and perfect for our 20 year trip. We were disappointed that we couldn't get a snack upon arrival (yes, they had olives and coconut) and in general the bar life was non existent. Vacation=cocktail. We struggled to get beer after diving...a tradition. Food was good not great. While we had the meal plan, it only covered an appetizer and entree or entree and dessert. Not all three w/o an uncharge. Really? (Our experience at Kia Ora on Rangiroa was exceptional)
The pool is very small with just a few chairs. Diving was the highlight but the dive shop has VERY small boats and they pack them in. Dive master Clare was the best of the group.
The resort DOES NOT CATER TO DIVERS. We arrived back at 1:30 and went to shower in our room, and at 1:55 we were warned that in the future we must come for lunch directly from the boat because they close promptly at 2. I want a fresh water rinse before i eat and the boat didn't have this. Either boats should leave earlier to accommodations for divers should be made.

Room Tip: The overwater bungalows are worth the additional money

Dear 54Scubasiren

Thank you very much for your kind review.
We are happy to read you enjoyed staying with us, and we thank you for your feedback regarding points of improvement.
We confirm that the half pension is or Appetizer+Main or Main+Dessert.
The Diving Center we are working with has been pretty busy this year, and there is also another diving center but also this one was kind of booked. We highly recommend to book activities (not only Diving) in advance, to make sure you can enjoy Tikehau to the fullest.
The opening hours of the restaurant are, as mentionned also in room and at check in, for breakfast from 7:30 to 9:30, for lunch from Noon to 2PM, and there is a snack menu available from 2PM to 4PM. Dinner starts at 7PM.
Usually the diving boat comes back earlier (around noon), when they do not, it is because the diving is particularly great this specific day, and they want you to enjoy the diving at its best.
Mauruuru again for your message, looking forward to welcoming you back in Tikehau in the future.
Best regards

This is the stuff that island dreams are made of! Fabulous location with pink sand beaches and turquoise waters. We stayed in one of the beach bungalows which had A/C - you want a room option with A/C since it gets hot in the day. The room was very nice and right on the beach. We had our 18 month old with us and this was ideal since the ocean was just steps away from the room. There are a ton of fish to see snorkeling right off the beach as well. The staff is very nice and accommodating and the restaurant is pretty good. The food is not the best as others mention due to being literally in the middle of the ocean so if you take this into consideration, it's fine. We actually caught some fish on a day trip and they cooked it up for us at night which was awesome. The food is expensive, particularly the breakfast at $40 pp. We went to town and got some food to eat for breakfast and this worked but the breakfast is buffet and very good if you don't mind the hefty price. You just have to accept that paradise can be expensive and go with it!

The resort is expensive, but excellent, especially service, location, surrounding.

The resort is well maintained, great landscape, spacious room, lovely designed bathroom.

The pink sand beach are so pretty. A lot of fish along the beach, within 2 feet deep water, you already can see different size and color fish, even shark swimming in front of you. Every night, there are different sunset outside the room.I really enjoy the place. Once a while the money spent with great time, seems worth it.

When we decided to go to Tikehau, we knew we needed to break the bank. For convenience, my travel agency arranged the week long trip after the cruise in Tuamotu Archipelago in French Polynesia. It was very expensive, however, with few luggage, we decided to have all transfer paid.
As other reviews said, the breakfast is not that great. I ordered cappuccino. It was cold and tasteless. I gave up and had not that good coffee since now on.

However, you can do some saving, buying water, crackers and wines from the village market that you can bring to dinner without any corking fee etc. The dinner menu is not cheap, but you can order lagoon fish for $23 per person, with a whole fresh fish, salad, rice and french fries. We ordered salad and one main to share for some evening and brought our own wines. Coming the price of dinner including tips and tax is very reasonable comparing US restaurants.

The resort is expensive for everything, but we have excellent stay.

We are happy to read you enjoyed your stay with us.
Just after your stay, we changed the machine to make cappuccinos, so now it is a cappuccino, regular, and hot. We apologize for this inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.
Looking forward to welcoming you back in our paradise.
