Seen from the boat, the rock tombs are captivating. Indeed many of the tourist boats stop here to provide photo opportunities and for visitors to pose in front of the unusual and dramatic scenery.

Sadly the tombs were closed so we couldn't get anywhere near and no notice to say why or for how long however, our ( pension B & B )Midas Pension was fantastically positioned with a view to dye for so we couldn't have done better really

I have tried for many years to take a good photograph of the tombs but found it difficult from the Dalyan side.

I opted to take the rowing boat ferry across to the other side. A bargain at TL5 return. Ferry runs every few minutes and crossing is great fun, everyone sat strategically to avoid the boat capsizing!

When you reach the other side, there are 3 small cafes offering drinks and light meals at average prices. Nice spot to sit by the river too and see Dalyan across the water.

From the cafes it's a 2 minute walk to the cemetery where you can get much closer to the tombs. I took some nice pictures in there, and took the opportunity to spend some time walking round the cemetery. I was surprised to discover some English graves there.

From the cemetery you can either walk along the road to Caunos, or take the Dolmus that waits outside the cemetery gates.

An unusual trip perhaps , but great value for TL5.

There is an additional small charge for the dolmus to Caunos and admission charge to Caunos itself. But costs are very low.

You can view the Tombs from the all along the Dalyan harbour but there a couple of spots to get a really great view!

There is a simple but lovely cafe in the park, Kaunos Çay Bahçesi where you can enjoy a drink and a snack whilst admiring the amazing view. Don't forget to also look in the river as you will definitely see lots of fish and possibly a turtle or two.

Just before the park there are also small row boats, which you can use to travel to "The other side". These cost 5L per person for a return trip, normally rowed by a local women. On the other side I would highly recommend a pancake from the cafe as you step off the boat with a cold drink in the shade of their garden. Afterwards take a short walk along the road to the Kaunos ruins and you will pass a grave yard which is peaceful and offers spectacular closer views of the Tombs above.
