We rented a few skiffs for a few hours during our cruises day in Ketchikan. The driver they had pick us up was on time and very helpful. We had a good day fishing on our own. Since we had such limited time I do wish the staff could have been a bit quicker helping us get our gear, licenses etc. and out on the water. One other thing to be aware of is the charges for the fish to be shipped home. We were surprised by the minimum order and boxing charge so be aware before you hand over your credit card. You can't beat the beautiful location and fishing.

Just got back from our 3rd trip to Clover Pass. The staff was excellent as usual. Whatever you need they take care of it. Meals are served buffet stile, so not always real hot, but still good. Rooms had some bathroom updating this year. New floor and fixtures. Still no light in or near the small shower. They've increased their fleet of yellow boats, bought new reels and upgraded the provided tackle. Fishing was excellent as usual. Just follow the advice of the staff and you'll catch fish. Keep in mind this is a fishing lodge not a 5 star resort. No spa or exercise facilities, just good fishing and excellent service. Clover Pass is hard to beat if that's what you're looking for. We'll be back next year.

Room Tip: All rooms are about the same. On the small side but we go to fish not hangout in the room.

Father-son fishing expedition in Alaska had been on the bucket list for a long time and Clover Pass staff made the experience a perfect 10! We were greeted warmly at the airport by Tim and Gina, made a quick stop at the market, and we're on the water an hour later. I can't say enough about the outstanding marina staff--answered every question from this novice fisherman, provided excellent gear and boats, filleted the fish and packaged for trip home...hardworking, quality guys. The meals were also terrific with a nice variety at breakfast, lunch and dinner. I believe its best to head to the resort with four people since thats what is required to operate the 20 foot boats.

At the risk of stating the obvious, this is a fishing "resort". Everything and everyone has a job that has to do with facilitating your fishing and bringing home your catch. There is nothing else to do, other than enjoy the scenery. The acomodations are spartan, old TV (did not need it anyways) and alarm clock, very basic showers and toiletries and suspiciously old bed covers (are they as old as the resort?). The guests are 80% male mid fifties and above. As described in other reviews the food is excellent and all the kids that work there are very helpful and polite. Unless you are an experienced halibut/salmon fisherman, arrange for a charter boat one day to learn, and rent a "yellow boat" after, not the small dingy...your chances of catching diminish and you will go home dissapointed. Needless to say this is fishing so keep your expectations reasonable, not everyone goes home with a lot of fish...but if fishing is your thing I cannot imagine a better place to go to.
