Great marketing and nothing else.

Our place felt like an underground bunker. The whole house out of which the "villas" are being rented out looks like homebuilt by someone with no sense of proportion, and certainly not a designer. The ceiling is 6ft and a bit so if you are tall, bad luck. We had to crawl over the extra bed to reach the "kitchen", no space.

The "breakfast" was inexistent, unless you call breakfast an old muffin and some milk in one of those cheap American fridges in an improbable kitchen from the 60s.

The whole place makes you cry, especially when you look outside and, when it's not raining, you see a giant rusty thing probably from the Klondike on the "beach" (the usual Northwest rock bed covered in algae and moss...)

What's in the end insulting is the price. The place is much worse than a Motel 6 so shouldn't cost more than 60-70$. Instead it's a 300$ thing...

Enjoy!

Thank you for taking the time to review our Inn. We are sorry it didn’t meet your expectation.

Please allow me to address your concerns. Our goal is to do everything possible for every one of our guests to have a wonderful memorable experience on their Alaskan adventure.

The room you stayed in is a full apartment with Jacuzzi in the master and walk in closet and full kitchen. There is a pullout for an additional guest in the living room. Unfortunately, when this is open, you do have to walk around it to get to the rest of the apartment, it very easily folds up however when not in use.

This room was the original part of the home, built during Juneau mining days. Resulting in lower, more intimate ceiling heights. To most, this architecture adds to the charm of the villa and to the wonderfully quirky experience that is Juneau, Alaska.
We do our best to make this known and widely publicize this information on our website and all of our marketing.

The majority of our travelers come to Alaska to experience everything there is to experience and that includes partaking of the many wonderful restaurants we have in the area. So, we offer an in-room light continental breakfast. In all our marketing we discuss the breakfast items we provide in the guest rooms which include oatmeal, fruit, fresh pastries of your choice, juice, coffee, tea & hot chocolate, delivered daily to your room. I am sorry you were surprised by this and found it unsatisfactory. This information is on our website, also on the confirmation email you received along with your room description.

It is also true that our beach on the famous Gastineau Channel while not sandy, features dramatic tides and rocks replete with almost daily visits from bald eagles and the occasional view of Orcas and such from the lawn. Yes, and includes a view of this historic 1930’s airplane hangar. Many of our guests are delighted to find an interesting part of Juneau history right out their window.

This was a great place to stay! The Deluxe room was large and easily accommodates 4 people.Everything was clean and comfortable. The views were beautiful and the setting is very peaceful. Being at sea level was great and very relaxing. We enjoyed staying on Douglas Island. We stayed for a week and it was great to have a kitchenette. Susan was amazing! She was very friendly and helpful. She booked some of our day trips and had itineraries/directions printed out for us. Staying here really added to our Alaskan experience. I would definitely stay here again. There are a large number of stairs.

Room Tip: the deluxe room is at beach level, has great views. It does require climbing a few flights of stairs

We were very pleased with our four-night stay at Beachside Villa. The premises were clean, comfortable and cozy. The location was great for us... a 20 minute walk and you are in downtown Juneau. We love to walk, but we also navigated the very easy city bus. A five-minute walk to the bus stop plus a $2 fare gets you downtown in 10 minutes.

Beyond everything else, Susan's hospitality was OUTSTANDING. She booked excursions for us and served as a hostess and concierge without equal. Definitely consider Beachside Villa for your stay in Juneau!

This is a WONDERFUL Inn! Very gracious hosts, clean and nice rooms. We stayed in three different ones since that is how availability worked out and that was actually pretty cool. (There are only 4 rooms and innkeeper lives on property in fifth.) Each room had its own personality. Notes on their website are accurate AND they can book all your day trips for you! I can't wait to visit this Inn and Juneau again!

Thank you Elisabeth for reviewing our Inn.

It was our delight and pleasure to have you and your family with us. I think of you every time I show my grand baby the photos of the July fireworks we watched on the beach.

I really do hope you make your way back to Juneau someday. would love to see you each again.

warmly
Susan

Although we enjoyed our stay in Juneau, the Beachside Villa Luxury Inn was somewhat of a disappointment. The location is great with lovely views over the Gastineau Sound and of Juneau however this is partially obstructed from the lower room view by a rusting, broken down boathouse. Although we were told there were "some stairs", we were not told there were four flights of external wooden stairs to get down to our room level. With heavy suitcases and an injury to my knee this was very difficult and painful - some warning should be given about the number of stairs. The room was nice but to call this "bed and breakfast" I think is a misnomer. We were offered 1 x bagel and 1 x croissant to be shared between 2 people! A very small amount of butter/jam was added! The bread was stale and hard and in fact inedible. In no way could this be termed a "light continental breakfast" as advertised. We found that in order to get a decent breakfast, we were forced to go into town to a restaurant on top of the cost of the accommodation. We would not stay at this venue again.

Room Tip: Villa built on a hill leading down towards beach. The lower rooms require walking up and down a large number of external wooden stairs.

Dear Jayne,

Thank you for taking the time to review our Inn. We are happy your room, views and location was satisfactory and apologize you were not completely satisfied. Please allow me to address your concerns.

I am so sorry the stairs were difficult for you. There are photos of the actual stairs on our website as well as a description on the confirmation email you received, stating if this number of stairs are a problem to please let us know so we can re accommodate you. We will try to find a way to make it clearer, thank you for the suggestion.

I'm very sorry you didn't find the breakfast enough. In our breakfast offerings, guests are never asked to limit the number of items they want. We offer as many fresh pastries as you like, including fruit, oatmeal, juice and coffee.
