This hotel is just near by the beach, buildings and plan of the hotel makes you feel you are in a colonial town. its rooms are large there is air conditioning there is a nice restaurant in that hotel, bar is also nice place to chat with people.

The hotel is right across the beach and there are plenty of street vendors that sell good local food across the street. The Beds were comfortable rooms fairly clean, there are 2 outdoor pools that the kids loved, good amount of outdoor lounge chairs. The bar made very good mixed drinks, hotel restaurant was also good and reasonably priced. Breakfast was good not great. They have a pool table. The down sides were the bad wifi in the hotel and limited towels on occasion.

Stayed here for 2 nights, hotel is ok but don't expect anything more. The hotel is close to the beach and port. For breakfast they offer pancakes, fruit, rice and beans (off course :-) omelette and toasted bread. They also offer dinner in this hotel. Room has airco and a fridge.

We needed a hotel after our trip across the gulf by ferry. I carefully read many reviews here on TA. Most of the top rated hotels had their issues, primarily noise. We selected Alamar Aparthotel based on price and reviews. If you compare it to hotels in the US, it was pretty bad. Old, in need of many cosmetic fixes, barely a shower head with no hot water in the morning (we had hot water the previous afternoon), and little water pressure. However, the included breakfast buffet was very good, we had secure parking, it's located across from the beach and the long beach sidewalk, has a small swimming pool, very clean, included an in room refrigerator, and at a decent price (for Costa Rica). We had noise issues, a special Valentine's Day dinner with music that ended at midnight and lots of barking dogs all night. I doubt any of the other hotels in Puntarenas were better.

PPuntarenas is a grimy city, but the hotel was nice. It's a beach town, and this is a beach hotel. The pool was refreshing, but the hot tub wasn't very hot. It was more of a warm tub. Overall, it was a great experience, but only if you're wanting to be at the beach a lot.

Room Tip: Rooms above the pool have balconies that don't open
