Fish of the day tacos, hand made ginger spritzer, ice cold Imperial beer, thankfully barefoot, songs of curious nearby howler monkeys and menageries of birds, background tempo of long deep ocean breaks in the sand, Pura Vida. Amen.

I know most of the lodges on the Osa Peninsula because we've been coming down here for years and Iguana Lodge has everything the really high end lodges have to offer but at almost a third the price. We had wonderful room that overlooked lush gardens and the water with full ceiling fans, standing fans and ocean breezes so that you'd never need AC. we could see and hear the surf from our room. with verandas overlooking the ocean and lush tropical landscaping everywhere, it is the ONLY high end lodge that's on a big long swimmable beach with surf AND is close to town. My teenage son loved that we could bodysurf just out our door, something that is hard to find in most of Osa where beaches tend to be too rough to swim. And as remote as the lodge feels, it's only ten minutes from the cute, laid back town of Puerto Jimenez. There are not any other high end hotels near the town. While we didn't have a chance to go on any, Iguana offers a huge variety of interesting trips. The dinner we had there was also creative and fresh as the owners go out of their way to give traditional Costa Rican dishes a modern twist. The biggest surprise was the pool! Its in a cool jungle atmosphere, made of pink coral stone and was a full length lap pool. We also appreciated that they were posh yet environmentally friendly. We can't wait to go back for longer!

What a fantastic visit to the Osa Peninsula! We were greeted upon arrival and shown to our accommodations. We stayed in a Casita (upper level) which was spacious and nicely furnished. The queen sized bed was very comfortable. There was also a twin bed and two chairs in the room. A unit with shelves and a place to hang clothes was in the casita and had a shelf full of books if you enjoy reading. The bathroom and shower were also spacious. The casita is open air - all screen with shutters to close if desired for privacy. A ceiling fan and portable fan kept us comfortable at night. The waves lulled us to sleep each night along with the soft rain on the tin roof. We loved hanging out on the covered deck in the hammock or comfortable chairs. The grounds at Iguana Lodge are gorgeous. So many flowers, birds, monkeys, and other critters. Do not miss taking an early morning hike with their naturalist, Sidnar. He is so friendly and knowledgeable and will show you flowers and wildlife that you sometimes wouldn't even know was around. The Pearl offers great food and great service.Gabriel and staff were so kind and knew our names (each of the 14 in our group) by the second day. Breakfast isn't to be missed either - fresh mango scones, pineapple muffins, fresh fruit, eggs, and gallo pinto are so very good. We enjoyed dinner our last night with the owners Toby and Lauren who are so personable! All of the staff is so friendly and goes above and beyond to make your stay wonderful. Marti and Stephanie are helpful with scheduling adventure tours, taxis into town, or answering questions. My husband and I did a horseback ride/waterfall rappel and it was fantastic. I had no rappelling experience, but the guide we were set up with was fantastic and I really did rappel a 100 ft. waterfall!! The beach at Iguana Lodge is so nice - hammocks and chairs were provided along with boogie boards, kayaks, and paddle board. There was truly nothing I disliked during our stay; well maybe the mosquitos - they weren't too bad, but I did come home with some bites. Make use of repellent that is provided and/or bring your own if you visit in the rainy season. I truly hope to return in the not so distant future!! If you are considering a visit - go for it, but do it knowing this is not the Ritz, and you are in the tropics and it's hot and humid and probably rainy (for us it was in the late afternoon/evening) and buggy in June, but I wouldn't change a thing. We had such a great time.

Room Tip: We liked the top floor casita for the views and it likely got more breeze than the lower level.

Really enjoyed my second visit here. Staff is extremely friendly and you feel they truly care about your stay. The food is consistently good and the dining area is very beautiful. It is a little out of the way and the road could use a little work......but.........it is very relaxing. The town of Puerto Jimenez is not very interesting but there is a lot of fun stuff to do right on the property. Lovely beach and well maintained pool.

Fantastic food, drinks, and service. Gabrielle was awesome!

It is near a wider portion of the Osa gulf and clearly gets a better surf crashing on the shore. The sounds is fantastic background noise.

A volleyball net and nice beach are just past a well manicured lawn.

Food was great and lots of drinks. It's a bit difficult to find but worth the drive. Just on the other side of the runway and follow that road back. It will dead end into a sand drive if you miss it. Large stone and statue entrance.

Don't seem to be open very late, so be sure to hit it for lunch. Seems to be the height of activity around that time.
