“Nice Place On The Water”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 March 2012

We stayed here 1 night before our 3 day Corcovado hike. The room was clean with A/C. We had a great view of the bay(room#10) but realy didn't get to enjoy it because we came late and had to get up early for the hike. The patio was encredibled decorated with a beautiful view. The staff was extremely helpful in contacting our guide and recommending places to eat. We stored some our belongings at the hotel while we went on the hike. Itwas nice to have that option. We stayed out by Matapolo after the hike but we stopped by to ask a few questions and once again the staff was extremely helpful. Puerto Jimenez is a nice Costa Rican town with friendly people and good restaurants.A few are Pearl of the Osa,Juanitas and Delfinites. We would of liked to have stayed a few more nights here.

Room Tip: Room#10 has a great view and patio

Great spot, nice view. Very friendly and helpful owner. Watched scarlet macaws fly overhead. Beautiful wonderful town. The people are so wonderful. Hope it never changes. Left my bank card in the machine and everyone was so helpful in getting it back for me. Its the way things should be. Could live there happily.

The cabinas as just outside the town so within walking distance (2 -3 min) and with fantastic views. The rooms were quite clean and the staff helpful. The bed was comfortable but the water in the shower did not warm up so you end up having a cold shower. The garden is full of bird life actually since we saw a couple of macaws next to the reception and parrots outside our room! Oso the dog was also very welcoming. I agree though with the previous review that the owner ( an American) does try to promote his tours instead of local tico tours, which is quite understandable since in the end that is the work he does, what I did not like is that when we went on his tour he gave his attention to Americans and was ignoring us (the only non americans on the tour i would say). We left a more detailed review on the tour.

Room Tip: We booked room number 10 and we had a fantastic view of the golfo dulce. The veranda was great...

I stayed here on on a recent trip to Costa Rica and wasn't all that impressed, especially compared to the other places we stayed on our trip. The rooms were very tiny for price (we stayed in the cheapest room), and very hard to keep clean. Both managers tried to help us arrange tours but were pushing tours that were guided by ex-pats from the United States and Europe instead of a Costa Rican guide which I thought was strange and disconcerting since we found some AMAZING Costa Rican tour guides in the area and took one not-so-great tour with an American tour guide.
The location was good though and the cleaning staff were very nice and I really appreciated the free bike and kayak rental.

Hi, I am sorry to hear that you thought Cabinas Jimenez was not your favorite place to stay... Yes, two of the rooms are small, but it was built by the previous owner. As far as using tour guides, I always try and use Costa Ricans. Yes, there is one tour guide.owner, Mike Boston, of Osa Adsventura, that I use. Mike has been here for many a year... Mike uses all Costa Ricans guides. Also, Mike Boston is an acclaimed biologist.. I am glad to hear that you enjoyed the bikes and Kayaks. Regards, John owner of Cabinas Jimenez

Wonderful location right on the gulf and within walking distance to everything in town (restaurants, groceries, post office etc). Scarlet Macaws fly over regularly and green parrots flock to a nearby tree in the evenings.

Staff is very friendly and accomodating.

The pool is nice for a quick dip to cool off.

Kayaks and bikes are available for free (i think there were 2 bikes and 4 kayaks)!

Grab a coconut (or 2) from the tree and relax on a hammock.

There is AC and a mini fridge in each room!

If you're heading to Corcovado after your stay, you can leave your extra luggage at the hotel in a locked storage locker for free.

Room Tip: Save a couple bucks and snag a cheaper room since u'll only be there to sleep OR spend only a fe...
