Agua Dulce Beach Resort
Ranked #6 of 12 Hotels in Puerto Jimenez
Reviewed 11 January 2018

Stayed here Christmas week and was given a warm welcome by the team.
The owner works VERY hard to please his customers and I fear he will burn himself out as he cooks breakfast, runs the bar at the pool and and and!
We had a suite right on the beach facing the ocean. The bathroom was the largest I have ever seen and stayed in! The room is tired and needs attention in terms of paintwork peeling off the walls in some areas.
There was some very annoying noises that were made by the wicker/bamboo headboard throughout the night - really weird. It was like the wood was expanding and making cracking noises. Never come across anything like this before and became quite annoying in the middle of the night.
Our suite had a separate small lounge with a sofa and two chairs/coffee table as well as a fridge with tea/coffee making facilities.
We were able to park our car right outside on the sand.
If driving to the property beware of the road leading to the hotel as it is bumpy, pot holes and a couple of narrow bridges with no rails - drive with caution.
The Italian restaurant was okay and food was reasonable but nothing "wow".
I would say this is some of the best accomodation in the area and would stay again.
As a kind comment to the owner, we thought he perhaps needs to delegate more to his staff as they were stood around quite a lot not doing very much whilst he was running around trying to serve his guests. Please take a look at your rooms and perhaps our advice would be to get your Handyman some paint and give the rooms a quick refresh.

Hotel is in a great location for discovering the peninsula and across the road from a beach. However the place needs up dating, paint peeling off the walls and unsafe stairs. The breakfast that is included was the same every day ( 6 days of cold scrambled eggs, hot dog sausages, value ham and pinto). The evening food was OK but a Greek salad does not have carrots, pineapple and orange!! (no feta, olives). The pool was also highly chlorinated. We were expecting paradise BUT were disappointed!

Room Tip: beach bungalows looked better

I traveled here with my husband and two children ages 4 and 2. Located on the end of the osa peninsula, outside of a sleepy town, surrounded by dense jungle is Agua Dulce Beach Resort. The drive in from Puerto Jimenez is a slow and bumpy 15 min ride. The resort is a self contained compound that has everything you need to exist; pool, restaurant, and a location directly on the water, so close that you can hear the waves crashing on the shore all day. It's a very relaxing and calm environment. The pool is warm and lovely - large enough to swim and not feel crowded out by other guests. There's also a slightly warmer Jacuzzi adjacent to the pool. The beach is expansive and empty- excellent for taking a walk or just gazing at the water. The only downfall for this particular beach is that there is a riptide so swimming here was not possible for us. However, there are plenty of nearby beaches that you can swim at. The restaurant prepares a variety of Italian, seafood, and fast-food dishes. My husband had a seafood soup made in coconut milk and said it was excellent. The rest of the dishes were good too. The people working at this resort were very nice and helpful. Our room was clean and comfortable with everything working well including A/C. Even though this place is so far removed from the rest of CR we felt comfortable and happy.

The Road past this hotel was flooded. Instead of letting us use their parking lot to bypass the flooding they forced us through the flooding and we got stuck with our car. Extremely unfriendly people. Would never recommend anyone staying at these unfriendly and rude people.

Nice front beach, 2 room bungalow with deck, friendly staff, pool for the afternoon swim, natural setting with the sounds of wildlife. Whale spotting in the Golfo Dulce completes a beutifull visit to the Osa Peninsula of Costa Rica. In addition, Puerto Jimenez is a great place to spend the afternoon walking about town, meeting people from all over the world, or just having lunch/dinner in the waterfront restaurants.

Room Tip: Front bungalows are quiet and offer a superb beach view.
