A close friend of ours had stayed at Gaia with his partner 8 years ago celebrating his 40th birthday and raved about it endlessly, so we decided to include it in our own 8-day trip to Costa Rica.

We couldn't have been made to feel more welcome during our quick 2-night stay. The hotel is a quick drive up the hill from Quepos, on the way to Manuel Antonio National Park. Views of jungle and ocean were breathtaking from just about everywhere on the property--our room, the restaurant, the pools--but it's the extraordinary personal service that makes this place special. We were treated like kings, but more than that, we felt welcomed like family in the most sincere, casual, and genuine way possible. The owners, all of whom we met and had great conversations with, clearly love the place and have put their hearts into making it not just a luxurious destination, but one that is fun, warm and embracing. This is a 5-star property with a soul. Thanks for a great stay!

Your search is over! Congratulations! Your search for the perfect place to stay in Manuel Antonio is over! The Gaia might be one of the best hotel choices you'll ever make. Stunning views. Plentiful wildlife. An exceptionally friendly and competent staff. Luxuriously-appointed, spotless rooms. Our stay was truly memorable and the next time we get to the Gaia can't come soon enough. Five stars, easily.

Tip: this is a luxury rainforest mountain lodge, not a beachfront resort. Those wanting to explore the national park and luscious Costa Rican beaches nearby can do so from the Gaia via a short taxi or bus ride from right outside the hotel grounds. (I recommend the frequent buses running between Quepos and MA). It's too far to walk.

My wife and I went in late July and loved every minute. We had only one major downpour in the late afternoon, which we actually enjoyed (rain in the rainforest, go figure). The Gaia Hotel staff were very friendly and attentive to our needs. The food at La Luna was outstanding as it was in the many restaurants near to the hotel.

Room Tip: The suites are priced more favorably this time of year, especially if you book way in advance.

Indeed....one of the secrets of the Green Season is that the rain really only comes at night and the days are filled with warmth and sunshine.....for the most part.

And indeed, Gaia's best kept secret is our staff......without their level of service and caring, we would not exit.

Thank you for your kind mention and thank you for sharing your 5 star experience with other readers on this TripAdvisor forum.

Gaia Hotel was so beautiful! Our room was comfortable and stylish. The pool was beautiful and the service spectacular! Our concierge Fernando went above and beyond in his duties (awkward phone call to a pharmacy on a Sunday...) and I enjoyed seeing him each day. Jesús was the bellhop who also chauffeured you from the bottom of the mountain/hill to the top and down again when leaving the resort. Happy hour was fun and the view of the sunset was also gorgeous! We even saw monkeys during our spa time and iguanas were a common sight, along with macaws as there is a release program on sight. The hike through the reserve was challenging but it is beautifully preserved. I felt I had to keep pinching myself because this experience was so nice!! I highly recommend it for any couples- it's so romantic and beautiful!

Room Tip: There was also turn down service and it was cleaned more than once a day. I loved every second in this resort!!
