The food was either over cooked or cold, the service was not good (slow and our waiter was unbelievably strange). The main courses took forever to come out, and we’re bland. do not eat here. There were no redeeming qualities. Avoid at all costs.

We are on a family vacation from San Francisco, California and this place was recommended by our hotel staff. The salads were artfully prepared with fresh ingredients with tasty dressings. Our main courses included salmon and seafood pasta, both of which were fantastic. We shared the crème brûlée for desert which was also a treat. Their wine list, while it was modest, had some great choices. We went with the French burgundy. Our waiter, Diego, was extremely attentive.

After a very long day of travel we decided to eat at the Gondola Gourmet because it was part of the Hotel Plaza Yara building complex where we were staying,

We were there in late November with the rainy season still lingering so we had the place to ourselves. Sometimes an empty restaurant is a bad sign but not in this case!

We had an excellent meal accompanied by excellent service! We ordered appetizers and a few drinks from the bar as well. Our waiter, (I forgot to write his name down... sorry) brought out 2 very frosty mugs with our Imperials. I know it's a small thing but 2 frosty beers on a very hot and humid night after a long day of travel was a little taste of heaven and a nice touch. During our beers the chef sent out a free appetizer for us to try too. A jalapeno garlic bread. Very good.

We knew we would be having plenty of fish on this trip so our first night out we both had something different. I had the jumbo shrimp and my uncle, a chicken fanatic, had the, you guessed it, chicken. Both were superb! The shrimp were perfectly done with a nice sauce that complimented rather than overpowered the dish. My uncle raved about the chicken and he's pretty particular about his chicken.

We were too stuffed for dessert unfortunately so I can't help anyone with that.

Another thing I loved about this place was the pace of the meal. We had plenty of time to enjoy everything that was presented and also time for conversation. It truly was a relaxing night out. I really dislike being rushed in restaurant. It was also evident from the time between courses that everything was prepared fresh and it showed both in presentation and in taste!

I can't think of anything more you could ask for from a restaurant and it's staff. Service, attention to detail and very fine food made for a wonderful night at the Gondola Gourmet! Thank you!

We don't miss a chance to dine here when in Manuel Antonio (usually more than once!). The owners, Silvana & Fernando and the bartender, Fabi, always make it an enjoyable experience. The food is always fresh and fabulous - our staples are the Tuna Tartare and the Mushroom Ravioli, however, we have never had a meal that wasn't off the charts! Don't miss this litlle jewel in the Jungle!!
