The Parador is situated on a beautiful property with fantastic ocean views and entertaining access to wildlife. The grounds were fantastic and it was neat to wake up to howler monkeys and fun watching the white face monkeys traverse the resort. However, it was hard not to feel isolated from town on the resort. Every time that you want to go off the resort for dinner or drinks or shopping, count on a $10 one-way cab ride. The staff was very helpful in organizing these trips, but it would be nice if transportation to town was provided. There was a shuttle to the beach that left 6 or 7 seven times a day, but for some reason this needed scheduled a day in advance. This limited the flexibility of using the resort's transportation.

Breakfast was provided and was average. We had lunch/snacks at Don Juan a couple of times and the food there was better than breakfast, but overall the food made us want to try different restaurants in town, which we found much better (price and food quality).

It was nice having a beach nearby, but it is a bit of a hike. The resort provides transportation via golf cart, but only on the hour. I recommend going to the beach first thing in the morning.

The resort has 3 pools. The adults only pools are small, but there was no issue getting a chair while we were there.

Again, this is a beautiful resort, but not the ideal place for people that want to easily explore the area.

I appreciate good food, service and amenities and this resort delivered all of the above. I’ve been to many destinations but they pale in comparison to that of the Parador Resort.

Breathtaking views, beautiful wildlife literally at your doorstep. My wife and I are seriously considering retiring here.

Gorgeous waters, forestry and immaculate trails. We will be back next year!

Fabulous stay at Parador and Manuel Antonio. Wildlife on the property was unbelievable! 3 different types of monkeys, "flash" the sloth and incredible bird life. Elias was great for tour of MA National Park. Certainly worth spending a day at the MA beach (rent the deck chairs and umbrella for about $25 for the day from Mary...she will look after you). Th short walk (~5 min) to the small beach near Parador is also worth it...it's where the locals go and the water is very warm. Lots of really good restaurants in the area. Great trip with family and friends. Would highly recommend and would certainly go back.

I have stayed at several hotels and always check out the website before visiting. This is one hotel that is gorgeous on the website, but even better in person. We LOVED this hotel. Everyone was friendly and helpful. It was so relaxing. The food was wonderful. Our only regret was that we didn’t stay longer. We walked the trails, went to the beach, played putt-putt, and spent a lot of time by the pool. I would go back in a heart beat. BEAUTIFUL hotel!!

If you “don’t” want to dream about a White Christmas then go to Costa Rica in December. To escape the hustle and bustle at the start of the Holiday season, my wife and I jetted off, for 9 days, to the green rainforest jungles of Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica…more specifically to the hotel Parador Ocean Resort and Spa. The rainy season is now over and there’s nothing but blue skies and azure waters on the horizon.

We booked the trip ourselves online and there was a slight glitch in our reservation that was no fault of the Parador but was directly related to us. However, Evelyn Lopez, Reservations Agent for the Parador, quickly and graciously assisted us and made everything right in a matter of moments. One thing you will notice right away at the Parador is the attentive and friendly staff. From check-in to check-out the staff is always there for your vacationing pleasure.

The hotel itself is, on a peninsula, set upon a hill and from our luxurious suite we overlooked the Pacific Ocean in the morning and watched the beautiful sunsets at night. The suite was always meticulously clean. Housekeeping does an over the top job in making sure that everything is in it’s place when you return from a day of excursions and the excursions are a must do. More on that later.

Not only is everything in it’s place at the Parador, the grounds are amazing and landscaped to perfection. As you walk the paths around the pools and fountains you will come across Flora and Fauna the likes that you have never seen. There’s an abundance of native animals such as white face capuchin, howler and squirrel monkeys in the trees and lizards and macaws are everywhere.

Dining at the Parador is also an adventure and a pleasure experiencing authentic Costa Rican specialties. Breakfast was included with our package and they had everything to get your day started. From fresh fruit, juices, pastries, omelets, beans and rice and an assortment of sides, the Parador has it all covered. Did I mention Costa Rican coffee? Oh yeah! I will say, that one night we took a cab into Quepos ($10 one way) to eat dinner at Ronny’s Place. This is a restaurant that is frequented by the locals and it’s definitely off the beaten path. The food and Sangria are the best around. Not to mention the sunset view. A real diamond in the rough. Don’t miss it.

Now for the excursions. As I mentioned before, they are a must do. Our package included three…Manuel Antonio National Park tour, Mangrove tour and the Jungle Night tour. All three were amazing and educational. The naturalist guides are extremely knowledgeable on all things nature in Costa Rica. Our naturalists, May, Elias and Rafael could not have been more fun to show and teach you about the sights, sounds and all of the animals that live at the tops of the trees.

I will finish as I started and say that the Parador is the place to be when in Costa Rica. Especially during the Holidays. You could not want for more but all good things do come to an end and we had to trade the green jungles of the Parador for snow covered vistas at home. The Parador is the best gift you can give to yourself and when you’re sitting around the Christmas tree with a “tan”, your family and friends will be just a wee bit envious.

Until next time…Pura Vida

Room Tip: If you're staying in the suites, stay on the 4th or 5th floor for a view of the ocean
