We stayed a few years ago in October and it was pure bliss!!! The restaurant was not open yet they were busy working on it. I loved that our whole crew of friends had the run of the hotel as it was rainy season. Jonathan was so informative on places to go etc! The beach is just across the street. The pool...we could have lived in it!

Ritmo Tropical is our favourite place to stay in Mal Pais / Santa Teresa. It's a local family run business and Jonathan the Manager is very nice, super helpful and he speaks great english. The rooms are large and clean and they have a great pool. We feel comfortable leaving our valuables behind when we go out because the rooms have a massive metal lock box that's super secure. It's very quiet at night and only it's only a quick walk to a beautiful surf beach. If you didn't bring a surfboard stop by Jobbies Long Boards, it's on the way to the beach. And while there are lots of amazing restaurants to eat at in the area, one of our favourites is the restaurant right at Ritmo Tropical. My wife and I love their breakfasts and their dinners are the best.

Room Tip: Our favourite rooms are the ones right by the pool.

We were traveling in a group of 3 couples and decided to stay here upon the referral of a local friend. Each couple booked a separate room. Upon arrival, we were assigned our bungalow and we were pleasantly surprised! There was a sparking pool on site and the restaurant served delicious pizza and drinks. The room was clean and had everything we needed (AC, fridge, hot water, etc.). It is walking distance to the beach and the cruce (town center) and the staff was very friendly. There were a couple of instances where the electricity went out but that's ICE's fault and not the hotel. The iguanas were a charming addition to the tropical setting. We will definitely be visiting again. You can't beat the price and location!

We loved it here and Johnny was a gracious host. The location was great, just a few steps from town kept it quiet. The first room we were in was great, not trendy but clean and sufficient. The pool was clean and refreshing. We left items on our porch to dry every night and nothing was stolen. Only issue was that somehow they overbooked our room one night and Johnny politely asked if we could help him to accommodate the other travelers by staying in another hotel for one night. It didn't take long to pack up, Johnny paid for taxi there and back, and we got to experience an even nicer hotel up on the hill. Although it was their error he dealt with it professionally and with such an appreciative attitude. True they could stand to update A/C's and fixtures but overall still very clean and very safe feeling to us! We look forward to returning! DO NOT miss the pizza (best in Mal Pais said everyone we met) , the mojito's nor the homemade tortillas in the breakfast. Amazing!!! Brenna and Sharlene
