We had a beautiful stay during our time here. It was so wonderful to encounter our host Ali, and we felt humbled to meet such a kind, friendly, and good person - they are rare to find. The staff always greeted my mother and I with a smile, making us feel very welcome. The tropical gardens surrounding each chalet were beautiful and we were occasionally visited by hummingbirds, and it was lovely to sit outside on the veranda morning and night. There is a pool which has clean blue waters and is nice to cool off in, and you can even catch sloths roaming around close by. The room itself was immaculate and cleaned every day, with new sheets and towels, and the daily emptying of trash. It was also nice to have the hotel’s small restaurant and bar open for a few hours throughout the day. The apartments were very safe, and after a guard checked the premised each night, the gate was securely locked. We were sad to leave this place, most of all our friend Ali, who helped to make our stay perfect in every way, even arranging our transfer to San Jose. We would recommend staying here to anyone who wants a quiet and beautiful place to relax.

Gorgeous place..lovely rooms..on the small side but perfectly fitted with everything you need. Air con..safe..fridge and hot showers. The gardens are stunning and its soooo close to the town and all the beaches. We hired a 125cc Motorbike for $25 and got to see all the beaches and area in that 1 day.. you could happily do it by push bike if your fit...The area has to be one of the hippest, coolest places on earth..Real Caribbean flavour everywhere..from the gorgeous people to the beautiful wildlife and beaches.. Unbelievably exciting!

The hotel was absolutely fantastic. Its location is near to town (1000 m to the bus stop on the other side of the town center) but very quiet. The staff spoke English, had free coffee in the mornings, and had seriously comfortable mattresses.

We stayed in the garden bungalow. The hot water was a touch finicky, but was always usable. The water itself isn't potable, but there was a working fridge and the AC worked great.

Perfectly situated to the town, the grounds are beautifully maintained and the staff very, very nice. The fellow who checked us in instructed us how to unlatch the gates which appeared to be moldy or dirty. In our room, 6A, the showerhead needs to be replaced or restored, consequently providing uneven flow. There were two signs in the shower stall, one reminded us to wait a minute for hot water and the other instructing us to shower briefly. The metal shower stall door came off its track on a couple of occasions. The water is not potable and they charge $2 for bottled water. No tea and coffee making. Despite the bathroom, the rooms are quite clean. I liked the property’s proximity to the town and that it was very quiet.

Room tip: Quiet property near a bustling town. Too rustic for me.

Dear
Thank you very much for your valuable comment.
For us is very important listen to our visitors. We will make the necessary replacements to improve bathroom comfort.
On the other hand, tea and coffee is available free at the restaurant from 7.30 am to 10.am. Also at the reception a coffee station is available all day.
We are happy that you enjoyed our little paradise despite the inconvenience of the bathroom.
Soon, the pool will be ready in October for your next vacation.
Have a great day !!

My husband and I have traveled to the Pacific side of Costa Rica for many years, this was our first trip to Puerto Viejo and it was a present for my 50th birthday, which was spent there.

We did not have a reservation for any hotels there and this was the first place we stopped when looking for accomodations. The owner and his beautiful wife (I wish I knew their names) were extremely accommodating to my husband and I and the friends that we traveled with.. We were given 2 lovely cabinas for us and our friends at very good prices.

The cabinas are kept up extremely well and they are lovely! Each one has its own porch with chairs (smoking friendly) and a hammock...omg I loved it!!! The room was super cute with a mosquito net, very nice size, a mini refrigerator (stocked with drinks and water for a very, very, very small fee). Hand soap, shampoo and conditioner were provided.

The bathrooms and room were both good sizes and you didn't feel like you were bumping into each other. Beach towels and room towels were provided (if you use washcloths/face cloths, as we do, bring your own).

It was really hot, but the beach is just across the street, if you didn't splurge a little extra for the cabinas on the beach side. However, the beach is such a short distance away, you will never regret staying on either side of the road at this hotel!

We were greeted with the ocean just beyond the property gates!!! It was very convenient....

I highly recommend this hotel. For some it may not be fancy enough, however, if you are looking for a place that embraces nature, looks like what you would expect in such a beautiful tropical location, surrounded by nice and friendly locals....Then this is your place. It was magical and I look forward to staying here again very soon.
