Within walking distance (<2 minutes) to the beach, a portion tucked away in a scenic locale with huts for shade and lay back chairs for a quick nap. Walking or biking distance to town (20 min, either along beach or road, or 5 min, respectively) for shops, bank, and local food, or just a few minutes from the closest bus stop (best travel option if not renting a bike) and mini-mart (with whatever you might need!). On top of its close proximity to everything of interest and of necessity, the room itself is simple and comfortable: beds are soft, fans that keep plenty of air circulating, a little kitchenette for all your home cook needs, and a clean, functioning bathroom (don't flush the toilet paper!) settle the deal. All for under fifty dollars a night.
If that wasn't enough to convince you that Be My Guest Cabinas is an ideal place to stay in Puerto Viejo, you need just meet the host(s): Freddy (and family, his pleasant wife and two energetic kids) is not only a gracious and kind host, but a friend after only a short time of interacting with him. Freddy was able to help my girlfriend and I see the wonders of Costa Rica, more than we even knew of, without breaking the bank. Without Freddy, this trip would have been much less fulfilling.
Still questioning it? Don't. If you want to see the beauty of Costa Rica, and save enough money for rent after over ten days of experience, go here.
