First and foremost, we aren't snobs, we are down to earth and very excepting. We appreciate roughing it regularly expecially when it comes to other cultures....we had booked a private room for 3 nights arrived to a very hot room which was fair enough but decided to look at reducing the stay to 2 nights as i did not wish to physically cook for the whole time we were in Tamarindo and were nicely surprised when the man at the front desk to keep us from going elsewhere offered us an upgrade with aircon..was STOKED!! Buuuttt thats where it stopped ladies n gents, room was full of mosquitoes and big red ants (i liked the ants...was going to make little superman capes for them) as well as other cool looking creatures. What i realllly didnt like was that the cleaning lady moved and touched our stuff in our room (yes we had some money in our gear) so I went down to the front desk to ask them to not let anyone in the room as we can use the same towels etc for 2 days and he said that he wouldn't let anyone in our room. The next day low and behold the cleaning lady has been in there again and we have a chunk of money missing. I confront the front guy and hes like sorry.....and thats it......place is a turd hole and harbors dishonest people, do yourself a favor and pass on this place!! Pura Vida hahaha suurrreeee.....anyway buyer beware!!!

Nice location at the beginning of Tamarindo, next to the main street and across the beach. Pricy for what you get, 45$ for a single person. Accommodation is simple, cheap, rooms in the passage are dark and facing directly other room. Commun kitchen is very dirty, dishes are old, scratched. Poor wi fi in the rooms, have to chaise it outside. Need improvements or lower price.

Room tip: Avoid passage rooms

Had such a wonderful time at Tsunami Surf Hotel. Great and quiet place to relax. Walking distance from town. Friendly staff. Basic and standard rooms. A lot of locals which is nice to mingle with. Thank you very much for a lovely stay.

I stayed here with some friends for Christmas and it was great! Terrific rooms and amazing service delivered! Plus amazing price! All in 1! The owners are easy going and the beach is just perfect. If you look for a perfect place to stay, choose this one, you won't regret it.

Basic place with everything you need to enjoy some surfing and hanging out in Tamarindo. Nice big shared kitchen, beer for sale, friendly family staff, and daily room clearning to new sheets. Solid location closer to the beginners side of the surf.
