We have stayed here twice and really enjoy it. The place is small, with only 8 thatch-roofed cabins. The cabins have a/c, but the a/c struggles on hot days. The cabins are comfortable and clean. Unlike some places in Central America, there is lots of hot water. There is a small "kitchenette" (hot plate and small refrigerator). There is free wifi by the pool, but not in the cabins. The place is outside of town on a dirt road. This makes access a bit challenging, but also means that the place is quiet and secluded. It is surrounded by woods and we heard monkeys in the woods every morning. The pool is very nice and is well maintained. There is a jacuzzi next to the pool. The owner and staff are very nice folks and do a great job. This is a comfortable and relaxing place to stay. Just be prepared for long walks to town, restaurants, etc. if you don't have a car.

Room Tip: We stayed in one of the back cabins -- very quiet and private.

We stayed 2 nights and we had very pleasant stay. Immerse in nature, the beach is 10mins walk through the forest (we spotted a few hawling monkeys and dozens of higuanas). No AC available in our room, but we opened the window and we had fresh air for the night and slept well. The pool is cool, though the bar is not in service and this is an area of improvement. Would come again.

We stayed here for 8 nights. The positives are it's very quiet, located off a dirt road a fairly short distance from town and a short walk along a wooded path to the beach. The pool is nice, but the poolside bar and on site restaurant were not operating. The cabins are rustic and poorly maintained. The kitchen facilities are very minimal; we only used the coffee maker and little refrigerator. Our main complaint is the windows are not screened; while there is a mosquito net over the bed, we still kept windows and doors closed to prevent insects.

We loved our stay at Sol y Luna. Bungalow was clean and comfortable, equipped with a small kitchen. The beach was a short walk. It was nice having a pool available for a break from the beach. Perfect! We did not have a car, so we were a bit limited with transportation to/from the lodge. Alex was extremely generous and gave us a ride to a supermarket after we arrived.

The bungalows at Sol y Luna are great. Some of the areas were a bit unclean like the bathroom. I loved the mini kitchen, and it's easy to live in + great prices. The owner is an architect and the whole place is structured well. The pool and jacuzzi are above and beyond what is expected. And the beach is very beautiful and not too far away. Definitely recommend staying here on in the area (note: this is not close to Tamarindo or any supermarkets. Tamarindo is 30 min. away but Playa Grande is a lot less crowded and more peaceful)
