This is a small, informal and impressively crafted wooden surf hostel. The rooms have basic creature comfort (no TV), but the common areas are comfy and open with appealing contemporary furnishings. The A/C was cold, the pool was refreshing, the food and drinks were great. Just down the road is the path to the beach, and at low tide you can walk to Tamarindo in about 45 minutes.

This hotel was amazing. Quiet and secluded. The staff are awesome and so hospitable. A short walk to the beach. Amazing view. Cool outdoor gym equipment. I wish we had booked for more than one night. The hotel offers surf lessons for a reasonable price as well as many excursions. Great food and awesome selection of craft beer. This hotel is a gem.

Sugar's Monkey is a lively, unpretentious place. With only a few room, it has a very homely feel and the staff are very friendly and relaxed. Its location, only a few meters from the beach, is hard to beat for surfers. And with a couple of restaurants around and a small shop for food nearby, it is a perfect base for a few days.

last minute reservation and we loved it! The vibe is what makes this hotel - laid back , chill, friendly....we loved the common area with the pool table and bar and small restaurant ...we played pool until late - great drinks form the bar - ate breakfast in the morning and the food was wonderful - so fresh and delicious ...loved the 2 kittens that seem to live there - the rooms are ok - the only downside was the bathroom - very small and the sink was perched very precariously on the pedestal and we never got any hot water for the showers ....but the rest made up for it and we loved how close it was to Playa Grande! One of our favorite places of our trip!
