Siloe Lodge
Reviewed 25 June 2015

I was traveling with 18 high school students and was pleasantly surprised by the warm welcome Liz and her family gave us. Siloe Lodge was the bright spot of our Costa Rica visit after roughing it in the Osa Peninsula for a week. We arrived limping, with bruises, scabs and worn down, but Siloe Lodge welcomed us and healed our spirits. Liz even drove a student and me to the clinic in Turrialba and was so kind and helpful in every way. The cabinas are charming, each with their own individual style, and the grounds are lovely. They even have a ramada with a pool table and foosball (speakers would have been nice for music). The food was awesome. Gracias a Liz y a su familia por una experiencia inolvidable.

Room Tip: A few of the cabinas have air conditioning if you like.

I stay at Siloe 2x/ year when I am visiting relatives in the Turrialba zone. The cabins have been recently renovated (A/C, satellite TV, new floors, etc) and the pool has also been expanded. Breakfast is an example of great food and service. The area is relatively close to the lagoon, rivers and is great for mountain bike rides. It is also a short drive from supermarkets and restaurants and it is within 45 minutes of Guayabo national park. The family owned lodge is also a great place for views and remarkable pictures. Highly recommended!

Room Tip: I have always stayed in the rooms on the right side when entering the main gate.

Overrall a good experience. Room 1, 8 and 9 are evidently the best rooms. For the price, it's wonderful. The scenery from the lodge is outstanding and the hostess, trained at the Marriott in San Jose, knows about service. Recommended!

Room Tip: 8 or 9 if you can!

We stumbled upon Siloe quite by accident, and I am so glad. They had a cabina available (the rest were all occupied--good for them!). The cabina was so cute! It appeared to have been recently updated. New outlets, fresh paint, and the bathroom was so nice. The outdoor eating area was well appointed, and they even had a pool table and fooz-ball table. The pool looked wonderful, but the temperature was too cool for swimming. They have wi fi here, but it can be a little hard to connect. To help us out, Liz and her father Enrique moved the router to a different location in the house so our reception would improve. Now that's service!! Beautiful place, lovely host family, worth looking for this!
