We stumbled upon Siloe quite by accident, and I am so glad. They had a cabina available (the rest were all occupied--good for them!). The cabina was so cute! It appeared to have been recently updated. New outlets, fresh paint, and the bathroom was so nice. The outdoor eating area was well appointed, and they even had a pool table and fooz-ball table. The pool looked wonderful, but the temperature was too cool for swimming. They have wi fi here, but it can be a little hard to connect. To help us out, Liz and her father Enrique moved the router to a different location in the house so our reception would improve. Now that's service!! Beautiful place, lovely host family, worth looking for this!

We have an active family who loves biking, kayaking, rafting, hiking and exploring. When we came to the Turrialba Valley (Costa Rica's perfect valley, bar none) we wanted to find an economical snug harbor to pull into and base our explorations out of. We passed their walled in entrance several times and one day decided to pull in and check out Siloe Lodge which was hidden behind tall hedges and winding driveway. There we found a most gracious family welcoming us to their home and then some. Just what we were looking for -- an authentic experience that had a B and B feel to it, but with all the extras. Enrique and Olga and their daughter Liz have transformed their house and beautiful landscaped property into a quaint lodging. Bedrooms are available in their house, but each have private entrances. Additionally there are two small cabins with nice beds and private bath and a great porch complete with rocker chairs. As a family we were welcomed as part of the family and treated to great meals at their well appointed open air dining room that looks out over the new swimming pool. Another feature is their Rancho were if you would like to have a party or cookout this is the spot. The family is sophisticated and they really give attention to the details. Each meal was served on a dining table covered with a table cloth and adorned with decorations and flower arrangements. We aren't necessarily a table cloth family, but in reality we liked all the extra touches. Their dining room is in a large open air veranda where you can enjoy the views of smokin 10,000' Volcan Turrialba and the resident hummingbirds. Both my wife and I loved their landscaping which was over the top and one reason why the place feels like the "snug harbor". Also, it is located in a safe location which we liked for our family. Finally, if you are looking for the Marriott don't come here. If you are looking for an authentic off the beaten path type of place to hang your hat for a day or week and have an authentic tico experience this is the place. We'll come back here when we get back to Costa Rica.

Room Tip: I'd go with one of the two cabins -- just because it feels like you have your own place. But the rooms as part of the house complex are nice too. We've stayed in both. All have private bathrooms I think.

Siloe Lodge is acozy place that one friend recommended me some months ago. The place is small but the ambiance and the treatment form the owners make you feel like be in home. The food is great and the customer service too.
Turrialba is a rustic place is like back to the past and enjoy the tradittional food, the friendly people, the Costa Rican treatment. It is a nice place, something diffrerent that the typical turistic places you heard or recommended to visit in Costa Rica.
