“Beautiful home and personalized service”
Reviewed 10 July 2018 for a stay in July 2018

We just finished our four nights at Casa Cielo near La Fortuna. After staying at a home like this with attentive concierge service, you won't ever want to book a hotel room for your travels.

Paul and his crew built this home atop a rugged quiet road ( hopefully soon to be paved) just minutes outside the more touristy town of Lafortuna. The home has beautiful hard woods throughout. The second floor outside bar and sitting area looking out to the volcano are priceless. The gardens and landscaping is beautiful. The pool area has another bar area and teak wood table where Paula and his lovely wife Rosy serve an included a la crate breakfast each morning accompanied by Paul's home made "hot ash" sauce which accentuates anything you put it on. He also has a wood burning brick pizza oven by the pool. Paul's pizza is a perfect thin crust pie for which he offers at least a dozen varieties. No need to eat out. Paul and Rosy provide a full dinner menu if you so chose.

Paul booked all of our excursions and passes along any discounts he can get. The Wave rafting , lunch, sugar cane, coffee excursion; guided Hanging bridges and Sky Trek zip lining were our favorites. Springs Resort was ok but feels a bit touristy after you have been at Casa Cielo?

Paul really cares about your travel experience. We were having some car troubles and he went beyond the call of duty to help us safely finish our journey. He is an honest humble guy with whom you immediately feel at ease. If you are family oriented people you will enjoy spending some time with his two lovely children and his two super cool dogs.

We look forward to coming back to stay in his phase two house and ranch currently construction which he showed us down the road.

“Casa Cielo is a treat!”
Reviewed 9 July 2018 for a stay in July 2018

Casa Cielo is located on the top of a hill in Monterey with amazing views! We even got to see the Arenal volcano once the fog went away.

Paul and Rosy were so sweet and accommodating. The breakfast was delicious every morning and they have a sweet pizza oven that makes the most amazing Pizzas. Highly recommend you try!

There was an overbooking oversight however, Paul made sure to take care of us and housed us in the house next door that was quaint but still very nice.

Please just ensure you are driving a 4WD vehicle that can handle rocky roads as there are some roads to get there that aren't perfectly paved. Also follow Paul's directions as he can tell you how to best avoid them.

We really enjoyed our girls trip at Paul's home!

We want to thank you for the review as well as choosing Casa Cielo for your vacation destination. It was a pleasure having you at the property we are happy that your stay at Casa Cielo was a pleasant one. We are also sorry that there was a problem with your reservation and we hope that you know that we did everything we could to remedy the problem and make the situation as painless as possible. Because we use many different platforms for bookings, the potential problems regarding over-bookings is always a possibility. Although this was the first (and last) overbooking issue we have ever had, we have taken steps to prevent this from happening in the future. We also hope that the free night stay we gave you and your group in our new rental, Casa Tuanis, was as comfortable and pleasant as your stay in Casa Cielo.

We also understand that driving on unpaved roads can be intimidating to some some drivers and the condition of the roads here have always been a issue for us. The positive thing is that the road systems have been slowly improving over the years and are much better than they where in the years past. Unfortunately, it has been hard for Costa Rica to shake it's "Bad Road" reputation but I can tell you that the road systems here are getting better every day. In fact, they are currently paving and doing road maintenance to our local roads as I respond to this review. The municipality is asphalting the main road from Monterrey all the way to the entrance of LandL and Casa Cielo. Thankfully, this should make the drive much more pleasant and less stressful for less experienced off road drivers.

Remember, travelling to Costa Rica is about new adventures and new experiences, which at times, can put you outside your comfort zone. Embrace that and enjoy it, sometimes half the adventure is getting to your destination. Pura Vida!!

“We loved our family vacation stay at Casa Cielo!”
Reviewed 11 June 2018 for a stay in June 2018

We completely loved our relaxing stay at Casa Cielo!
Our first impressions about how remote and rugged the roads were leading up to the home are were quickly put a side by the awe inspiring views and natural beauty of the area. We were impressed with the number, of what we would consider, exotic birds on and around the property. The home and the quality of furnishings were even better than the pictures let on. How often can you say that about a vacation rental? It was a spacious home for my family of five with plenty of room to gather or retreat after full days of exploring Arenal. Paul and his family do a wonderful job at making you feel welcome. My sons particularly enjoyed their two cute dogs (Paul was careful to ask about how we felt about pets before meeting the dogs). The breakfasts served were terrific, and we also optioned for a few dinners, that were equally as delicious and fun. The home has a good selection of books and movies that we utilized occasionally during the periods of heavy rain. Our stay was in early June and was the beginning of the rainy season. We slept great with the cool nights and rain showers. It is a rainforest after all, and the intermittent rain was an added interest and did little to dampen our enjoyment of the stay and the exploring of the Arenal area.

“Amazing Resort appointed rental with OUTSTANDING Hospitality!!”
Reviewed 23 May 2018 for a stay in May 2018

Casa Cielo is a rental that goes beyond in every way! The house is beyond expectations, the hospitality is amazing, the concierge level help with booking activities was very helpful, and the food was delicious. Our family included two kids 10 and 13 along with grandma - Paul and Rosie made sure we were all comfortable and enjoyed our time in Costa Rica. The pool and outdoor areas are gorgeous. The view of the volcano can't be beat. Paul set up tours for us including horseback riding, a pontoon cruise to see wildlife, a Natural History tour at Hanging Bridges, and A Canyoning White Water Rafting trip. Every morning we were greeted with fresh coffee and breakfast of our choice. We had several dinners ordered including pizza he taught my son to make in his pizza oven. Overall this is THE BEST rental we have ever stayed in. Attention to every detail was spent and it resulted in a fabulous experience!

“Incredible Stay at Casa Cielo Volcano View Retreat”

Our party of four had an awesome time at Casa Cielo for four nights. The owners, Paul and Rosie, are so friendly and go out of their way to make your stay special. Meals were delicious, house is gorgeous, view is spectacular. The road to get there is a bit challenging but well worth it. Highly recommend you check it out if looking for a place to stay in that area.
