We stayed here Dec 18-22, 2020. They were just starting to host tourists. The villa was very pretty and spacious with a tiny private pool, 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The master bath had a beautiful waterfall shower. There were some misses -- the furniture was not functional -- no dresser, tiny closets with high bars and high shelves that didn't work for really hanging any clothes, nowhere to sit inside and no kitchen appliances except a mini fridge (we had to request the room coffee pot that was advertised). Nowhere to put toiletries in the bathrooms. And there were squirrels or birds living in our ceiling. The staff were very nice, particularly the restaurant and bar staff. The included breakfast was very good but the dinner was not very good -- don't order the steak. We had a beautiful sunny day and saw the top of Arenal. We ate at Fortuna several times, Soda Vasquez a block off the main park was awesome! One of our best meals all week. Also go with the SKY group for ziplining and rainforest tour -- amazing! Bring lots of rain gear for the walk but we got lucky and the sun came out for the zip lining. Spring for the go-pro!

We stayed at the Hotel Mountain Paradise for 2 nights and were quite underwhelmed with our experience.

Lows: MANY biting ants at the entryway of our room, pool unavailable for a portion of our stay, broken jacuzzi at our room, no housekeeping service, no actual pond at the “frog pond”, and very few hotel staff (1 guy was running the pool bar, restaurant, AND reception one night).

Highs: the 1 staff that was running everything was phenomenal - even though he was stretched thin, fantastic views, really cool shower in room, and incredible gourmet food.

Overall, it was a decent experience. This hotel is listed as 4-stars, but I would rank it comparably to 3-star hotels. Great location, though!

We loved Mountain Paradise! The staff we incredible friendly and quick in responding to whatever we needed. The rooms were very big and spacious, and we loved the hot tub and big pack porch and the waterfall in the shower. The views from the restaurant and the pool of the volcano were incredible.

They were very COVID friendly as well.

Highly recommend!
