I spent two days here between week-long stays in Monteverde and San Jose. The rooms are spacious and well-appointed, and the bathroom are great, with a natural stone wall on one side with plantings. The mattresses are very firm though. The pools and swim-up bar and restaurant are fun, and they have a series of secluded hot and cool pools with natural spring water. The staff are gracious and friendly, and everyone I spoke to was fluent in English. We had dinner in the main dining room one night and the food was good and nicely presented. The wood-fired pizza in the Italian restaurant is delicious. I think it may be pricey for Costa Ricans, but coming from a large city in the Northeast, I didn't think so.

Room Tip: The rooms are located in rows. If you don't want to walk far, ask for a room closest to the main pool area.

This was our first stop in Costa Rica. It was a long trip from Dan Jose, but definitely worth it. The service was great. Everyone greeted us and always asked if they could help with anything. The springs are wonderful and unlike many other hotels, Arenal Springs does not sell daily use tickets to the general tourists. This makes the springs more enjoyable and much less crowded.

The restaurant on site was a little pricey but the food was great. The beds were a little hard for my taste, but we were so active throughout the day that I slept like a baby. There are many things to do in the region and the gentleman at the activities desk was awesome arranging all our activities (his name escapes me). We hiked down to La Fortuna waterfall on our own, just pay when you get there. Bring bug spray and swimming gear. We went white water rafting and rappelling with Desafio. Very professional company and their service and care safety does not compare to others. All in all, I highly recommend this hotel.

I'm mad not giving this venue 5 stars. It is heavenly. We arrived early evening for a 3 day break in August, sun setting , ran to the hot springs - quite the most delightful pool and spa in memory . Then the rain came ! Be prepared ! . It rained here so hard for three days many guests never left their lovely rooms ! We braved it, going into town regularly. Hey the review is for the hotel not El Niño so 4 stars. Would love to see it in the sunshine, and the volcano ( which we never saw !) , but never will , life's too short to live under a hot shower permanently .

There are alot of nice hotels in the Arenal area. Some are pricey, some are budget. This hotel is mid-range with above average service. As everyone has already stated, the grounds are very well kept. There are duplex cabins throughout the property, and some can be quite far from the common area of the pools, springs, and restaurant. But, the hotel has a golf cart that serves as a shuttle to and from your cabin to the common areas. We used the pool and springs at night, after a day of hiking and horseback riding. I don't think the hot springs are natural mineral water, but I can't be certain. Still, it was lovely to relax in the pools while gazing at the stars. We ordered room service one night and had a caesars salad and an orange glazed chicken entree. Both were excellent. The food came promptly, and was delicious!

Nice hotel. Clean, well maintained, excellent staff. Breakfast was okay. Flies all over jams and butter....could be remedied with a simple fan. Cute rooms with 2 beds that were a little hard but nothing unbearable. The nightly rains lulled us to sleep. Hot spring pool was lovely. Sushi was great and $$$. Drinks were also overpriced, but some good options. Would stay again.
