There are ~54 rooms and 8 hot pools at this resort. Most of the rooms are in a 4 block building with 3 and 4 being on top and 1 and 2 on the ground floor. The interior of the room is setup so that there is a single bed next to the entrance with a half wall and then the main room with the beds and hot tub. The second floor is superior due to better views and one of the first floor rooms (normally XX1) everyone walks by and you can see into it unless you draw the back blinds, limiting your light.

The below are neither positives or negatives
-Welcome drink given
-Was given a choice between a ground floor king room or a second floor 2 queen room, booked a king room
-Crib provided within 15 minutes of checking in, extra pad was provided.
-Hot tub does add a little ambient noise to the room, not annoying
-Room did not smell like chlorine/bromine when the cover was on the hot tub. If it was off for an extended period of time there was some smell
-Hot tub cover does not latch. Potential safety issue with smallish kids
-Room fridge is also the mini bar, but you can still fit stuff in it
-You are supposed to get pool towel cards, we didn’t, not an issue. Get towels at the pool bar
-7-8 hot pools, some are single party, some are multiparty. Hot pools close at 10p, not sure when they open, but I went at 6a twice without an issue. There was always at least 3 pools empty when we went.
-Hot Springs water is 95-100*. The higher the pool the warmer the water. The top pool was 100 after they drained them all and refilled it with fresh hot water.
-Laundry was a reasonable cost per item, but not cheap

Restaurants
-Breakfast you have you choice of American or Costa Rican. I think I saw some plates with bacon and Costa Rican so you can potentially customize what you want.
-Pool restaurant has its own menu, but you can also order anything from the main restaurant menu. Order at the bar if no one comes to you
-Dinner is expensive. There are two cheap menu items, an $8 pasta and a $12 chicken pasta. These are by far the best value. The food is very average and not really worth it in my opinion.
-Dinner has a 6pm and 8pm seating. The more on time you are the better your table location. Reservations must be made.
-Breakfast has 7a-9a seatings and you are supposed to make reservations. It did appear that one breakfast the capacity of the dining room was almost at 100%
-About 50 meters to the left of the hotel entrance is a well reviewed restaurant. About 100 meters to the right is a local soda. It is about a 10 minute drive to town

COVID
The hotels precautions seem to be more window dressing then meant to do actual good. We observed tables being turned over without being wiped down. There is not hand sanitizer in many locations. No alcohol wipes are provided in the room. The staff does a good job of wearing masks most of the time.

Overall the stay was great and we enjoyed the hot springs and the hot tub in our room. Below is the menu PDF

We love this place. The view from the room (and from the bed when you wake up in the morning) is unreal. Staff was awesome and so helpful in arranging us taxis and scheduling activities for us. They even greeted us with an awesome cocktail when we checked in! We didn’t eat dinner there so I can’t speak to that, but breakfast was included and was great. What I didn’t realize before coming is how close you are to the base of the volcano... it seems like this hotel was located in the best and somewhat secluded spot up on its own (compared so some of the other hotels that we had looked at before coming). All in all, it was a perfect place to stay and would 100% recommend.

Well, what to say: The rooms and the views from there to the Volcano are marvellous. Spacious rooms with great beds and a Jacuzzi with view to the Volcano, Real special place. But... Prices at the bar and in the restaurants are most likely European or North American range and the quality of especially the food was not at all matching the quality of the location. Unmotivated staff, dishes from the kitchen (we had BF and one time dinner, skipped the second time as it was really not eatable) were cooked with the maximum of uninspation. What a great place it could be with better food and staff.

What a hotel!!!! I never stayed in a hotel room like this!!! The view from our room was spacious - sitting in the hot tub and see the Arenal vulano - very special. The ground/garden where breathtaking like paradise! Breakfast was great, my husband had a small (med. problem) and ask for Bananas - they did not have any, so they send someone to Fortuna to get some. Long story short, he got every morning 2 Bananas - thank you sooo much.

Room tip: We loved our room # 501

We loved this hotel and surroundings. It's very well located to spot the volcano, it has good food and spacious luxorious rooms. Close to La Fortuna town with many animal and bird trails.
It has lovely gardens and hot springs. We will come back here one day.
