This is hands down one of the best cafes in Shanghai to find high quality brews. Space is roomy, flooded with light from floor to ceiling windows looking out to street and located on a quiet leafy street on the edge of the French concession.

Wide selection of curated beans and a small, but faultless, selection of cakes. The Japanese style brûlée is a real treat.

Highly recommended for a peaceful afternoon alone or with small group of friends.

This is a small coffee shop with several 2 seater tables, and a couple of 4 seaters. The place was decked out well, being light and airy. Situated on a quiet, leafy street in the French Concession, so makes a nice place to have a rest from walking and exploring the area.

If you love coffee, or are just sick of coffees without depth and character, Rumors is well worth a visit. They have many different coffees from around the globe, including Columbia & Brazil (of course), Ethiopia, Australia, Indonesia, Vietnam, India, Kenya, Tanzania, etc etc. The beans are ground only once an order is placed. The aroma is great. Rumors offer distractions like milk, sugar, mochas and even cafe latte for the weak hearted. Recommend you go for the real thing, black. We order a Columbian and a Tanzanian coffees. After 15 long minutes, they arrived. Be prepared, perhaps they also have to pick the beans. Anyway, both had interesting (very different) aromas and rich flavours. And certainly no need to add anything!

The cost was around RMB60/cup, which is on the high side. There were some side dishes and deserts available for those in need. And be prepared not to have any complementary biscuits accompanying the coffee. For the flavour, atmosphere and as a treat, it's well worth it though. We'll be going back soon to try some of the other varieties.
