How did all these buildings from central London and Berlin get to Shanghai? Read up on the history before you go so you know what you are looking at. Best viewed at night when they are all lit up, a fantastic contrast to the futurism of the Pudong towers right across the river.

A you walk along the river on one side are beautiful ultra-modern architecture juxtaposed to buildings from the early 1900's on the other side. A night att the buildings are lit up making for a spectacular view.

If you only have one night in Shanghai, I would totally recommend seeing the Bund. Go at night as it is ten times more picturesque than during the day time. At night, the buildings on both sides of the river are lit up in a colorful display for everyone's enjoyment. People simply walk lazily or hang out to enjoy the scenery while being cooled by the nice breeze.

There are plenty of security in the area so I didn't feel scared. I did get propositioned a lot....perhaps walking by myself with a camera was a dead give away for being a tourist.

Bund of Shanghai is an amazing place to see , it do not have any comparison with any other thing of china . In night its beauty is ultimate and to watch it from side of Nanjing road is unforgettable moment of life . Lot of other high buildings are also there around this with different type of lights .

Well worth a couple of hours in the cold night air exploring and taking loads of photos. Shanghai really is it's best at night.
