While the distance from the Huangpu river to the hotel is a matter of concern, the hotel itself struck us as a very pleasant surprise - nice rooms, well-appointed & spacious lobby, warm staff, quick service, good spread for breakfast, overall cleanliness et al.

We had a pleasant stay at this hotel. Hotel staff were pleasant and helpful. Good rooms, well maintained toilets, sumptuous breakfast made our stay enjoyable. The hotel has an ATM in the lobby which came in very handy. The nearest metro is about 2 km away and fast food chains are also a little far from the hotel.

Not sure if it is managed by Grand Mercure team or not. I was told it is a 4-star hotel but I find the room is a bit too dark. Shower doesn't drain as it is supposed to be. Plenty of choices for breakfast, but they seem to focus on quantity rather quality. This hotel can be improved. But hey, you get what you pay for.

We had a wonderful experience at the Grand Mercure while visiting Shanghai. It was November 2016 and hot so they air conditioning was off. They brought us a fan for the room right away. Service was fantastic along with the room. Very nice and clean.
