I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights whilst taking a tour of Shanghai. Check-in was smooth with staff speaking good English. Rooms are a little bog standard but there is nothing wrong with them, everything worked perfectly fine and was in a good condition. Beds were king size and really comfortable. Overall good standard hotel, would give it 7/10.

Checked in 23rd and out 25th Mar.

Room is clean and spacious.
But there's a challenge in identifying the correct room type.. from various online hotel portals, many different photos of same room type. I cannot find the room types in their official website too...so please check carefully.

Bed is comfortable and with clear choice of soft and firm pillows.

Toilet with complete toiletries.
Water pressure is good for bath.

Wifi is free and connection reliable.

Breakfast (3rd Floor)is miserable with not many choice. This is the minus point.
But for those who has no time for breakfast, there's grab and go breakfast box.. this is thoughtful !

Hotel has indoor spa but didn't try due to time constraint

I stayed there on Feb 1 and 25, 2016, for business trips. I stayed in Plaza Wing in the first time. 2nd time booked the same, but late check-in, so they sent me by golf cart to Great Wall Wing. The hotel renovated the rooms but not the lobby, which looked obviously old and very "local" for both Wings. The rooms were ok, not big, looked a bit dated, but not very much. The bed was a bit hard. The false ceiling from the door up to the bath room was very low that you could just touch it with you hand, feeling much "pressured", but once you passed that to the bed/TV area, the height of the ceiling was high and comfortable enough.

The rooms came with free WiFi. I tried Facetime but gave up. Either it couldn't connect or it discconnected easily. Whatsapp call was ok but if your call would be long, prepared for disconnection.

Breakfast in Plaza Wing was good, nice western style with good quality choices. My 2nd stay in Great Wall Wing was very very much disappointed. It was a temporary setup in their old Chinese restaurant with old carpet and big round tables covered with not very much good looking cloths. Felt 1-2 stars downgraded. Food choice was much fewer, though still could make your stomach full without sick. With limited time, I didn't ask if I could go to Plaza Wing for breakfast. I ended up sitting at the table next to the windows to look outside to make myself better.

I walked around and couldn't find nice restaurant nearby. Probably need to explore farther away.

When you check-in, you will receive a coupon to exchange a drink. In both cases, I got local can verion Heineken beer (don't expect too much).

The good side is that location is good, next to metro and train station.

Nothing really jumps out to make this hotel above it below average. I found the staff to be pleasant, not much English spoken but we are in China so fair enough.

This hotel being spitting distance from the railway station made it very convenient to get around. It's walking distance to Jade Buddha Palace.

All of the staff that we encountered were friendly and nice, however very little English is spoken.

The gym is not great as it's a very small and hot room.

We were unable to turn the AC to cold, we could only hear the room whixh made the room very hot and quite uncomfortable although it wad very clean and the hot water in the bathroom was great.

Book a club or executive room as you will get access to the club lounge, free breakfast and will be invited to happy hour which is a basically several hours of free drinking every afternoon. All very good.
