The resort is very tropical. It is private and small. The staff is the friendliest I have ever been around, and the staff are incredibly service oriented. The food, excursions, spa and accommodations are all excellent. This is not a posh or fancy resort; it is important to remember that is is a very lush, tropical and natural environment! Absolutely perfect holiday . Would return in the future.

We are delighted, and not at all surprised, that you felt so warmly welcomed by the wonderful family of staff here at Qamea... the remote islanders in Fiji truly are the friendliest people in the world. What a fantastic place, so peaceful and relaxing. Everything here makes you relax.
But the main thing is the staff, they are so friendly and really make you feel welcome.
We had our honeymoon here and loved our 7 days and can not wait to go back.
If you get a chance do the waterfall walk, its beautiful.

Room Tip: All rooms have ocean view. If getting honeymoon bure, ask for the end one, more private

We are so glad that you found the experience deeply relaxing, and that you felt so welcomed by the wonderful family of staff here at Qamea. The "owner" Profile Holdings threatened to prevent us from leaving the island and withhold services unless we pay twice for our stay. That means put us on the beach and starve us???? They claim their bank is returning payment, but I showed them on-line with our Chase account that the payment is complete. We paid. I won't submit to their abuse.
The banks will work this this sort of thing out, resorts do not intimidate their guests, we will make good on our payment, just as the owner expects us to trust him by paying him twice. But they they threaten us!!!!
As of this moment, we are prisoners of Qamea crappy owner.

Room Tip: Free WiFi is unusable unless you pay.

This falls into the category of nonsense and just plain fiction. The former guest that posted this “review" originally booked with our resort through an online booking company in February. As with all guests that pay in advance, this guests signed a credit authorisation form which clearly outlined the costs, and stated that the charge would be made by our reservation company, Profile Holdings Hotel Management. The first two credit cards he provided were declined. Finally a third credit card went through. Shortly after the charge appeared on his bill he contacted our reservation office in June concerned about the identity of Profile Holdings, and when we explained to him that this is our reservation company he was fine with it, and that was the last we heard from him until he and his wife arrived on our resort 4 days ago. The day before this guest arrived we received a letter from our bank that the guest had reported the transaction as fraud and that he did not authorise the charge, and the funds were pulled out of our account on July 6. We showed our guest the correspondence from our bank which clearly confirmed that we had not been paid, and also that in fact he as the cardholder had disputed the transaction and had arranged to have it voided. We confirmed yesterday again that the funds had been pulled from our account at the instruction of the cardholder.

Throughout the day (yesterday), the guest was belligerent and obviously intoxicated, threatened our staff, threatened to disrupt other guests, and more. Meals and other services were not withheld. This morning the guest did check out, he paid his bill by credit card, and departed the resort on time.

We have proudly owned and operated Qamea Resort & Spa for 18 years, and along with our amazing staff, work very hard to provide our guests with an incredible and authentic luxury Fijian outer island experience. Given our popularity and solid reputation, we have had the honour of welcoming literally thousands of amazing guests from around the world. This obviously was not one of them. There is nothing that we could or would have done differently. We are only very sorry for the verbal abuse and stress that our on resort staff endured as a result of the antics of this person.

At the end of May my husband and I made our 3rd trip to Qamea in 3 years. Our first visit was for our honeymoon. After having such an incredible time we returned again for our 1st anniversary. Last year we opted to visit someplace different (We love to travel and see new places and chose Thailand). While that trip was wonderful we kept saying to ourselves, “It’s not Qamea…”. Returning this year for our 3rd anniversary was the only natural option! We’ve fallen head over heels for the island and can’t begin to recommend it enough! If you are reading this post, it’s probably safe to assume you’re considering visiting. All I can say is stop searching for other places, you are wasting your time. Just go ahead & book Qamea.

While a few changes have happened since our first trip in 2014 including a new yoga platform and phones & wifi in the bures, all of the original charm we love and excitement still exists and is as great as the first visit.

I’ve written past reviews where you can find my tips and recommendations for visiting (i.e. - bring floating pool mats, candy for the kids in the village, ect.) so in this review I want to focus on a new-to-us spa experience we tried – The Night of Decadence.
OMG ! Guys & Gals – Listen, and I mean LISTEN TO ME, if you want to make your partner feel like a million bucks surprise them and BOOK THIS TREATMENT! I’m telling you, you will be a hero! Your partner will return home singing your praises and bragging to all their friends! I’m kicking myself that my husband and I didn’t do this sooner and we’ve joked we’ve been ruined for all of our future trips! In the past, the price had put us off and we wondered if it was worth it. But, after converting the price to USD and considering what something like this would cost in The States, it’s a pretty great value.

We decided to do the Night of Decadence on our actual anniversary date. We were told to make sure we were in our Bure by 3pm in order to be ready for the Fijian Warrior escort that would be arriving. A little before 3pm, one of the resort staff arrived to our surprise and began decorating our patio with braided palm leaves. Shortly after the Warriors arrived for the escort in traditional attire that made for some great photo opportunities.

Closer to the Jungle Spa, after crossing the bridge over the water (Once you’ve been to the resort, you will know what I am talking about) we noticed more floral decorations that had been placed along the path for us! As we were climbing the stairs to the Spa, Salome (Spa specialist), leaned over the railing yelling a loud, “BULA!” and popped the first bottle of champagne she had chilled for us. There was also a cheese and fruit platter waiting and we were immediately greeted with a foot scrub. After our feet were cleaned, my husband and I were given some alone time to drink the bottle of champagne and eat the cheese & fruit.

Following the champagne & food we changed then were lead to the couples treatment room (Which always reminds me of Swiss Family Robinson’s tree house). We started with a full body sugar scrub that was divine! After the scrub, we cleaned off in the outdoor shower together. Again, the staff out did themselves in decorating. By now it was dark outside but the natural stones that lined the sides of the shower had been lit by tea light candles. After showering, we went back to the couples spa room for first an hour full body massage, then a facial. I also want to make a special mention of how relaxing the sounds are in the spa during treatment. You can hear birds chirping, insects, gentle waves crashing, and even a quick rain shower. SERIOUSLY PEOPLE, THIS IS THE TYPE OF PLACE THEY TAKE A RECORDER TO IN ORDER TO MAKE THE RELAXING SOUND TRACKS YOU HEAR IN SPAS BACK HOME!

After the sugar scrub, massage & facial it was roughly 7pm so mind you we’d been pampered for about 4 hours straight! When my husband and I sat up from the massage beds and looked at each out we both said that we felt “Relaxed Drunk!” Mind you, it had been several hours since sharing the champagne. This was not an alcohol drunkness but an OMG, My BODY FEELS ABSOULETELY AMAZING drunkess that we literally did not have a single care in the world (The spa ladies have some serious skills! No doubt they WILL give you the best massages you ever receive in your life!). Thank god for the Warrior Escort back to our bure afterwards because both of us could hardly walk a straight line! Plus, I’m pretty certain I left a trail of drool the entire way…

Back at the bure, the band boys were waiting along with Sia (The Hostess). They began singing and presented us with an anniversary cake Sia had personally decorated herself. There was also a second bottle champagne waiting (Which my husband had surprised me in upgrading to Veuve Clicquot, the champagne from our wedding! Score more best husband points!) The band boys played a few more songs for us, then gave us time to enjoy our dinner in private, ending the Night of Decadence Evening.

Again, if you are considering booking Qamea – just do it. Qamea wouldn’t disappoint. I also want to give a shout-out to Rene at UnforgettableHoneymoons.com. We’ve booked every trip though her and have always received the best prices! (I’m a self proclaimed boarder line extreme couponer – trust me, I know how to shop around for the best deals!). Also, if you do go to Qamea just go ahead and go all out booking the Night of Decadence. Experiencing “Relaxed Drunkness” is something that should be on everyone’s bucket list!

Bula vinaka Dana H... wow, thank you so much, once again, for taking the time to share your experience here at Qamea! The Night of Decadence is truly the ultimate relaxation experience. We are so glad that you enjoyed it! You have also described quite perfectly that feeling of utter languid, happy, ZEN that overtakes the body after spending time with the ladies up in our Jungle Spa! It is the most luxurious package on our entire spa menu, and all of our guests who have tried it attest that it is the most unforgettable way to celebrate a special anniversary of honeymoon occasion... from the warrior escort, champagne, massage, body treatment, facial, then lobster dinner, it is difficult to imagine a more perfect evening!
It was such a pleasure to welcome you both back to you Qamea family, and particularly lovely to see the excitement of the staff upon your return once again. We hope that we have the pleasure of welcoming you back again to Qamea in the future, and celebrating many more anniversaries with an amazing Night of Decadence treatment! Warmest regards from ALL the team here at Qamea~

A remote island getaway - not too far from Australia but felt an age away. Greeted off the plane by friendly Qamea driver and a short drive away to our boat transfer.

The videos on images on social media and online do not do this place justice - it is just an idyllic paradise setting.

We were upgraded to a Royal beach House, just perfect. Private pool immediately outside our Bure looks onto our own private beach.

Im not sure of the ratio of staff to guests but I'm sure it would be 6 or 7 to 1, the service was outstanding and each member of the team there made you feel so welcome and almost like we were doing them a fvour for asking the for help.

Food was amazing, actitvities a plenty, we could just relax and get present wiht the sound of the waves and the tweet of the birds or get busy with snorkelling, scuba diving, yoga, hiking, or the health spa.

Just a wonderful holiday that I would reccomend to anyone.
