Description: In 1984, Louisiana Lagniappe was opened and established inside Sandpiper Cove condominiums in what was at one time the Sandpiper Cove Yacht Club. A loyal following was quickly established due, in no small part, to the quality of the food and the attention to detail of the service. In 1998 The Southern Restaurant Group took ownership of the restaurant with a commitment to maintain the same level of food quality and service. Since then, Louisiana Lagniappe has consistently served only the freshest seafood and steaks. Now open year round, Louisiana Lagniappe is the spot for a memorable dining experience on all levels. In 1999, a second Louisiana Lagniappe was opened in the San Roc Cay Shopping and Marina Complex in Orange Beach, Alabama. Offering the same fine Louisiana seafood with a Creole flair, the attire is casual, yet an upscale waterfront dining experience is provided for the entire family.

If so, you will also love Louisiana Lagniappe. The menu features an excellent selection of fish, crab, shrimp, scallops, and more prepared in the style that makes New Orleans cuisine a favorite. As with any fine dining restaurant on the Gulf Coast in summer, one of the challenges is finding the right combination of food and access when you need it. Most of the more popular restaurants are challenged to offer the correct balance. The San Roc Marina where this restaurant is located has a centrally located outdoor bar that can serve as an unofficial "waiting room", with local musicians playing in the courtyard a distinctive plus. They also offer call ahead seating that can minimize the wait, putting the staff and patrons in a good and relaxed frame of mind from the get go.

Our experience looked to be pretty typical...families and groups of friends enjoying a relaxed evening out. The central dining room is busy, and a bit noisy, but not distressingly so. Basically it mimics an urban dining experience in the hustle and bustle, and in the excellent organization of kitchen and service. Bottom line, be a bit patient, perhaps enjoy a cocktail, because the food is worth it!

I had the Grouper Meunière, served with the salad and potato that accompanies most all entrees. The consistency is what makes it great; if you love seafood, you will find types and preparation that you will appreciate. The ingredients are fresh and high quality... that's what makes the meal exceptional. Others in our party praised the stuffed shrimp, and the Yellow Fin tuna with hollandaise. Beyond the seafood, there's minimal steak and chicken... thus the heading above...this place is for the lover of fresh, well prepared seafood coming straight out of the Gulf right outside!

So, if you LOVE seafood and a fine dining experience, give Louisiana Lagniappe a try! It will become a regular destination when you visit Orange Beach.

My friend and I had dinner there on my one week visit to the area. We were served by a friendly waitress and had an excellently prepared Martini. We both had seafood dishes that were well prepared.

The food is always great! The only concern is the lack of options for people allergic to shellfish. There are no appetizers that someone with a shellfish allergy can eat. There are entrée options but not many. However I have never had a bad meal here.

A mainstay on the beach for many years. Consistent quality and well trained staff. A dizzying selection of fresh fish and cooked by people who know how it's supposed to look and taste. On my last visit the waiter noticed the color of the cooked grouper should have been slightly browner (which I also noticed but not enough to send back) and the waiter insisted on sending it back when she passed back by because it wasn't perfect.
Also, they will not kill you on the wine mark-up here or rush you to leave while you are enjoying your remaining wine or conversation. Nice ambiance and always fresh grouper.
If you go during off-season they have a price-fixe menu that includes a bottle of wine that is hard to beat!

We frequent Gulf Shores/Orange Beach and this was our first time to La Lagnippe. It was very good and moved up our list of favorites. My husband had the blackened grouper which was topped lobster and cream sauce delicious! I had the grouper meunière both came with salad and twice baked potatoes. All was excellent especially the potatoes. Great atmosphere more dressy than casual. Waiter was knowledgable and offered suggestions. We will definitely be back soon. Highly recommend.
