This old mosque was founded by Indian traders in the XVIII century and mostly rebuilt in the XIX century. Though the interiors are simple and almost empty, the buildings are an odd mix of styles that are not normally associated to mosques. The pagoda like white minaret, Greek style columns, the green Indonesian style roof and the mix of Victorian and traditional Malay decoration make it one of the most striking and beautiful buildings of Melaka.
The mosque is still much in use so dress and behave appropriately when visiting.
