22 days in Palolem and every night with the tuk tuk we hit the Magic View restaurant with a lounge that overlooks the bay of Patnem, and an area with tables overlooking the Colomb bay. You may wonder why every night, because Italian food is outstanding, with wood-burning pizza oven, large, thin and crispy, wonderful bruschetta, pasta with tomato and tuna unbeatable, giant salads and desserts of all kinds better than the other, all it accompanied by the ever efficient presence and available LUCAS coming from Bihar where he and his wife held a free xi school children who can not attend public. Each evening we were glad of the Maurizio company an Italian who helped out for the proper functioning of the restaurant. All staff, from cooks, two pizza makers, Lucas gave the maximum always with a smile. We wish long life to this restaurant to be able to rejoice again in future trips to Goa.
Many thanks from Enrica and Furio

We have eaten here on a number of occasions over the last two years and the food has always been excellent. The view from the covered seating area by the beach is lovely and the Indian waiter is delightful and efficient. The Italian manager is a bit ineffectual, (when asked about the Indian wines on the list he responded that he was from Tuscany and did not drink them) and the chef is apparently idiosyncratic or at least the waiter is scared to ask him to deviate from the published menu. This is of course entirely reasonable if you are asking him to change the basic ingredients of a dish but not if you are simply requesting that he does not include the advertised bread. The meal arrived with the bread. These however were minor matters which would certainly not have deterred us from returning, but on our most recent visit just over a week ago we had a very nasty surprise when the dining area was filled with a terrible sewage stink followed by an equally horrible chemical smell which came and went but lasted for most of the meal. A quick peep over the rail revealed that sewage from the local fishermen's cottages was flowing onto the beach directly adjacent to the dining area and shortly after some locals appeared on the beach and began spraying strong smelling chemicals from plastic bottles. The resulting cocktail was disgusting. From subsequent enquiries it seems that the restaurant is owned by a local who is well aware of the problem but has chosen to do nothing about it. When asked about the problem, the manager was evasive, denied first knowledge then responsibility and finally said that he had done all he could over several years but was in effect defeated by the situation. My difficulty is that although he was aware of the problem he continued to seat arriving diners during intervals in the smelliness and then spent most of the rest of the time hiding in the kitchen. Many will rightly say that India is India and that there are differences in hygiene standards between there and Europe. Fortunately Patnem is an excellent example of very good hygiene standards from the chai shop to the most expensive eateries (relatively expensive that is) and my comments are set against this. Unless those affected reflect their concerns in reviews, uncaring owners will not feel obliged to take steps to address problems. I offer these comments reluctantly about what is otherwise a very good eatery.

we went here in the evening for dinner and were mesmerised by the view and the fact that it was so secluded... had lovely wine.

what worked:
1. lovely wine
2. lovely view
3. Inspite of no reservation, we were accommodated.

Pasta was okay. Bruschetta was avoidable. we were later told that pizza is what they are known for.
Excellent Tiramisu

What didn't work:
1. service was extremely slow.
2. staff has no knowledge / intention to make recommendations
3. menace of stray dogs - the dogs come right next to your table looking for food and the staff does nothing to manage this-- just keep saying they wont harm you..

the restaurant needs to update its website and phone number on googlemaps..

one of the best thin crust pizzas i have ever eaten.....a must try restaurant.....dont get fooled by it's humble appearance....the food is to die for!
word of advice: last order is taken by 10pm.....also it's booked out during the peak season....so we checked out the scene before we headed for the beach....

The food is first rate if you like Italian! On our first visit I had a pizza while my wife had pasta, on our return we shared a pizza and salad. The portions are generous and delicious.
The view along Patnem beach is truly magical especially after dark as other places put on light shows.
The only downside is the need to book. Pizzas are only served after seven pm and as there aren't many tables the place is soon full.
