We stayed for 4 nights at the end of a "golden triangle" tour of the North of India. What a way to wind down ! At the end of April, the season is ending, the weather gets hotter and more humid and the hotel gets less full. Taj hotels usually get things right and they have here. We were greeted by a sort of mini-mariachi serenaders as we arrived. The check-in formalities were handled in the lounge and we and our luggage were buggied to our room (bungalow). The bungalows are set in lush gardens and have verandas & semi-private gardens. The rooms are big and comfortable and have all the bits & pieces you'd expect in a 5* hotel room. The hotel grounds are big (56 acres) including a small golf course and cricket square where there was an all-invited scratch match at 5.30 every evening. The pool is a good size with a reasonable number of sunloungers (although I guess it could be "towels at dawn" in high season). The hotel grounds lead directly onto the beach which is excellent; clean white sand with more sunloungers and service from the "lobster shack" hotel bar. There's even a rack to store your shoes before going onto the beach and a chap who will hose your feet clean of sand on your return.
