I have to admit to being disappointed when we were first shown to our rooms: they were dark, tatty and our balcony overlooked a part of the garden where they tipped the rubbish. Also, the entire site seemed tired and not in the best state of repair. However I had to revise my views the next day. The manageress went out of her way to ensure we were happy and offered us a free upgrade to much better rooms, which we gratefully accepted. These were brighter, more spacious and with a view of the pool from the large balconies. I also started to look at the whole site through "Indian eyes", and could see its plus points. For such a small hotel, the free-form pool was large - larger, in fact, than the one at the over-priced "5 star" (joke) Taj Exotica further down the coast and with a pool surround in a much better state of repair. However, if you have access problems and don't like uneven steps then this hotel probably isn't for you. But the best feature of the Nirvana is its location: just a short walk from the German Bakery, the Wednesday flea market and the beach, but utterly peaceful. No sound of music drifting up from the town, no barking dogs; just the occasional call of the wild peacocks. And the beds are super-comfortable. Breakfast was not really to our taste, but both the nearby German Bakery and Orange Boum (about a 15-minute walk) do brilliant breakfasts. All the staff are charming and extremely eager to please I'd certainly stay here again if I returned to Anjuna.

Room Tip: Do not go for the Standard Rooms - get the best room you can afford.

We had a wonderful experience at Nirvana hermitage. The property is nice with landscape view. Beach is walking distance of 10-15mins. Rooms are nice and cozy and so are the staff. They are as courteous as the owner who personally took good care of us for 2days when we got food poisoned at a beach shack. Food is good here. Should not have tried elsewhere. Overall nice and pleasant experience. Thanks to the team. Thanks once again Mr. Salgaonkar

One must not consider this hotel, even if it last option in Goa. Listing few of my awful experiences:
1.We where late barely by 10 minutes for breakfast timing and they, denied to even serve bread. What can be more pathetic than refraining from giving food to guests.
2. It an old resort with not a single area renovated from ages together, Pool area is so untidy that you can actually see moss growing around.
3. Bath Tub has got a mud settled all over the bottom, I wonder if they ever cleaned it.
4.Food served does not have any taste, one can have just for the sake of getting over hunger.
5.Reception folks were not courteous, you will hardly find any reception guy around
anyone can easily guess the price of food, cabs & Laundry, as it is double the price than any other service provider in that area
it is an isolated place with no accessibility to market.
Only good thing was German Bakery Restaurant in this area

I spent a week at this hotel. My room was clean and well maintained. The pool is great, there is a bar and a reasonable restaurant. The staff are pleasant and helpful; I was ill one day and someone actually came to check that I was alright. The plus points of this hotel are the peace and quiet, the cool breezes (because of the bit of height), the pleasant garden surroundings.. Do NOT choose this hotel if you are going to be troubled by the fact that there is a 15 minute walk down to the beach and a 5 minute uphill from the German Bakery at the bottom of the hill.
Only criticism is that the pool and the surrounding area could be better maintained. There are some weeds, the edge of the pool wants cleaning.

Nirvana Hermitage is a resort near Anjuna Beach. The landmark is German Bakery. The resort is built in a large area and gives the feeling of a nature camp. The swimming pool is very good and so is the layout of the rooms. The facilities in the room are also of good standard.
However, the owner of the property Mr. Sanjay Salgaonkar is a very difficult person. I hope that you don't have to face him or confront him. He is one of the most difficult and unreasonable person that I have met in my life. He was not ready to accommodate a small request for us even though we had 2 rooms in his hotel for 3 days.

Room Tip: All cottages are more or less same. We had taken a Deluxe Cottage.

Musafir, pleased to see your review at least talking good about the property. BTW why would you not? When you get a free stay for the second night coz of an error through our online partner.
As a guest you have this medium free, to review your stay & exaggerate too. The content of this review by you is intentional to malign & defame the owner of the property who had genuine reasons to decline your extension as you were not carrying valid booking voucher.
Musafir as your id suggest A Back-packer; you were reluctant to even call the online agent who booked you as you were aware that your intention was awful. You knew you were getting to stay at your so claimed friends voucher who did not even bother to attend the agents call, However as our one night privilege guest we tried speaking to our online partner to resolve your query which we did & made them convey you your folly too.
You were astound to see your issue being resolved & instead of thanking us or the owner you went online to put this fake review to defame us.
We have been in hospitality business for decades. Our motto is to give professional yet homely service which we have been doing so till date hence we have international guest staying with us as repeats ever since we started Nirvana Hermitage. Shocked to see such one-sided review hence we contemplate this as drafted against us & condemn to such malicious behaviour.
