We eat here a lot and have never had any complaints. Greens are good, a little spicy but that's the way I like them. I always order the cornbread to go with them. BBQ is tender and I'm a fan of the white BBQ sauce.

One of the few places to eat near the Barber Motorcycle Museum. Thankfully it is a good stop. Order at the counter from the big menu, grab your beverage and a seat and they bring the food to you. Free refills on drinks including iced tea.

Small place where you order at counter and they serve you at table. The staff were helpful and friendly. Food served promptly and hot. I had the sampler platter which was a small 1/4 chicken, pulled pork, 2 ribs, 2 slices of loaf bread and 2 sides. I found all the meat on the dry side but the sauces were really great. The green beans were from a can, but the sides were huge. A word of warning about the collard greens. Unless you like to eat food and have fire come out of your mouth, don't order the collard greens. My poor unsuspecting husband turned bright red and lost his breath.

We were out for a Sunday drive and happened across Rusty's BBQ. A real, genuine, mom an' pop establishment, this sort of place is a treasure. We knew something was up when we pulled in and found the parking lot completely packed. The building and dining area was somewhat humble and (because we arrived at lunch time) they were quite busy. We stood in line to order our food, then went to find a table where the meal is served to you. To be fair, the line moved along pretty quickly. The only open table seated six and we felt bad taking it for just two diners. So as a booth nearby emptied we moved over.

Due to the press of the crowd the small staff had troubles keeping the empty cups from departing diners picked up and table wiped off. But to their credit, they chased the problem energetically and as soon as the main lunch press was passed caught up quickly.

The food was very good ... and the portion sizes much more than adequate. We commented that compared to [a local well known brand of barbecue restaurants] the prices were about the same, but the portions were larger and the menu had much more variety. The prices were above that of a fast-food chain might be, but the portion sizes made the meal a much better value. (When was the last time you had take-home leftovers from a burger joint?)

The decor was what might be called "down home" or "American rustic." Every wall was plastered with cute and funny signs, and old automobile license plates. This is not the sort of place for elegant people wanting fine dining, but if you crave real barbecue, served by a happy and friendly staff, with a dining room full of good folks -- over a wide span of local society -- you will enjoy Rusty's as much as we did.
