This is another one of those historic oddities you hear about in elementary school Alabama history class. A small statue of a woman holding up a big bug, surrounded by a small fountain in the middle of a busy intersection. You gotta love it. Very nice to see in person, great oddball photo opportunity, and it is kept up very nice - despite the occasional act of vandalism from idiots who don't know how to behave. The history behind the monument was critical to agriculture fortunes of Alabama in the early 20th century. Worth a stop just passing through, and the downtown is very nice for shopping. By the way, moody teenagers probably won't care for a visit.
