I went on this tour last month with a friend and it was brilliant. We stayed for three nights in an eco-village. The villagers were very welcoming and the food they prepared was delicious. One night, local musicians came from a nearby village and played for us, it was a truly marvellous thing to see. Our guides took us for night safaris, village walks and for closer looks at the mangrove trees. We spent an entire day on a boat roaming through the Sunderbans with our wonderful guide MJ. Unfortunately, we didn't see a tiger but our guides were always very open that it would be unlikely. Still, MJ did a great job at pointing out other wildlife we passed and gave us lots of great information about the park.
I would definitely recommend these guys to a friend as it was a such a great experience. Thank you MJ, AJ, Arif and co. P.S. if you go to their office on Tottie Lane you might be lucky to see their cute dogs!

We went in a big group of 20 people all from the same locality with family, friends and kids. We started our journey early and reached to take our launch. We stayed in the launch the whole day, ate our breakfast Luchi, Alur Torkari, Rosogolla in the launch. Then we started moving into deep crossings lagoons. We waited to see a Royal Bengal Tiger but was of no luck. We do saw deer, crocodiles. The sun was falling on the mangrove trees, camouflaging so much as if a tiger is standing behind the trees. It was spooky indeed. Then we had our lunch of hot steamed rice and mutton curry. After sunset, we were sent to a resort nearby. The surrounding was very spooky, with wooden cottages on stilts, with nothing around at all other than trees and bushes. There were no lights around other than tiny bulbs in the walkway on the stilts joining cottages. The people there said that animals do come when offered salt and water near the resort. Many were scared and i was feeling adventurous.

The next day after having our breakfast, we strolled around the area, noticed big pythons and cobras in cages with baits as food. Deer were seen a lot. We then headed for our launch to go back home visiting more places enroute.

Yes I should describe the place as it is the kingdom of the king "the Royal Bengal tiger".Go for it in winter preferably with some recognised and renowned tour operator. Follow rules and enjoy.

Visiting sundarban was in my bucketlist since i read 'Hungry Tide'. It was a sudden plan..and we were so lucky that we planned it with backpackers group. They picked us from science city. All the arrangements were great. they own a private island in the sundarban named satgelia and they have made an amazing eco village for staying there.I'm calling it amazing because of the creativities that is seen in every part of the property. Be it the sitting area using car seats and tyres,or the fluroscence sitting zone,or the star gazing area, the shell flooring in the bathrooms. They gave us some beautiful experiences like mud walking, night safary, village walk etc. Our guides,AJay and Arif know every titbits of the place. So if you really want to feel the real essence of sundarban..they are the best men to guide you. Kudos to the whole team.
