“A wonderful stay”
Reviewed 24 April 2012

Our family of three adults spent five nights here in mid April. We were initially quite disappointed at not getting a room with a mountain view, the hotel was quite full, but the Manager promised to move us the next day. And he did, to a bigger room with a partial mountain view. Having inspected many of the rooms at this property, we realised that being situated higher up, the hotel has some not so great views of Darjeeling town, peoples' backyards, etc. But this is just a fact of life in present day Darjeeling.
The hotel does not overlook Kanchenjunga, but the mountains that can be seen are pretty enough. In this case, location is not everything, one can walk a short distance and view Kanchenjunga, weather permitting.
The staff were kindness itself, always willing to help, very obliging, from front desk to restaurant and housekeeping staff, thank you all.
The buffet meals at the restaurant are varied and of good quality, mainly Indian, some Chinese, a bit of Continental. Again, special requests were no problem at all. We opted for MAP and thus ate lighter meals at lunchtime. The buffet spread is very filling indeed.
The hotel is impeccably maintained, staff are constantly cleaning, polishing, gardening, etc. The decor may be a bit ecletic, but that is a part of the Mayfair's charm, an old fashioned home, where you are an honoured guest.
If we were ever lucky enough to visit Darjeeling again, this would be our only choice, no doubt at all.

A very nice place to stay in. Although the entrance is a bit narrow because it was a banglow before. Rest bee assured that you will not find a place like this. Also there is tea available for sale i recommend to buy it from here as it is genuine and clean. Food is fantastic.

The hotel was another gem at the end of a road , one does not expect anything to be at the end of such a road, but what a surprise, nevermind this quality of a hotel. Service was perfect

Hotel is lovely situated as one can exit the top gate and then a walking distance to the market.
Rooms were luxurious with all the amenities one excpect from a western hotel. Service from the front desk was exceptional, they even booked our toy train tickets .

The flowers at the hotel was also out of this world and added to the true character of this establishment. We will defnitely return again.

The hotel is very beautiful, lush green (that’s a signature of any May Fair property). I have stayed in Mayfair in Rourkella and also in Bhubaneswar. What I like the most of any Mayfair hotel is the class of hospitality and décor of the hotel, its two good. It seems that the owner and the staff are very very passionate about the services and the properties they own.
The Darjeeling property is a heritage property which they have uplifted very well. The Bar is really fantastic. You will have a view of the valley while you sip in your favorite drink.
Rooms were clean and service was up to the mark of any Star hotel. Only drawback the Hotel doesn’t have a view of Mount Kanchengha (the Main attraction of Darjeeling).

we had searched a lot for good hotels in Darjeeling and were certainly not disappointed with our choice of Mayfair. we were 6 Adults and 6 children and visited in May 2009. The Rooms were big enough for a family of 4. Nice spread of breakfast and meals at the restaurant. The weather was cool in May. I remember this big library which had lots of good books and even videos on travel and about history of darjeeling. The toy room/Kids room was also good as it kept the kids busy while we shopped around. The entrance was near the market and thus convenient to explore on foot. All in all a very nice property and well managed.
