Lovely stay here in a room with small private garden. The main gardens are extensive and beautiful and sitting by the pool is wonderful after sightseeing. Both the main restaurant and Cinnamon serve lovely food. We were slightly troubled by the noise of the air conditioning in our room. A party outside of the hotel grounds was a problem one evening, and took a few phone calls to rectify. Normally it wouldn't matter to have crashing music until 11pm but when you are tired from v early starts it's a little irritating.
Overall tho it is a great place to stay and would recommend it.

After Delhi, this hotel was a haven of tranquillity, though it has to be mentioned that it frequently hosts weddings in the large garden, but these festivities can be delightful to watch. We did not find ourselves disturbed by the music which stopped in reasonable time. Slight tummy trouble from Delhi led us to spend a morning at the hotel and we had a bonus - an elephant polo match at midday. The gardens at the front are a succession of descending parterres extending
a long way front the doors of the hotel. At the back there is a large swimming pool set amidst spacious lawns. The staff at the hotel are very friendly and helpful. The reception can book you a car for short trips or for an all-day trips to Amber with its three hilltop forts and other detours along the way. If you like textiles, go to the Anokhi Museum in Amber Village which is a real Indian village with lots of wild life roaming around - monkeys, black boar and goats etc.

Room Tip: Lower ground floor rooms have windows onto small private garden with a low hedge. Useful if you want to sit out for a while before continuing your holiday.

This hotel as an old palace is a great place to stay. We stayed in a room facing the front garden which was very pretty and one night had a wedding which looked very beautiful. The room was a good size and was decorated nicely. The breakfast was great, very extensive with an egg station and pancake station- the staff were very attentive and helpful too. We ate at the restaurant one night and enjoyed good Indian food. Location was good too for visiting Jaipur!

Beautiful building, a former palace; it really feels like you are back in old times.
Our best experience there was the Cinnamon restaurant! It was the best restaurant of our whole stay in India. The decor is so-so but the food and the service was amazing.
For the negative, we were a bit disappointed with the room decoration, was a bit too simple and was lacking character. But our main issue was the noise; it was very noisy during the night due to echo from the corridor and the train noise. We loved the place but for the price (200euros +), we were expecting something better. (breakfast was not even included)

The Taj properties are among the finest hotels you can find in India. The Rambagh, a another Taj property has an over the top restaurant and spectacular public and private rooms. This residence, The Jai Mahal, has nothing to do with the others. I was placed in a dark seemingly subterranean room which represented little more than a motel 6 in its offerings. Attempts to change rooms were met with the ubiquitous empty smile that signified no wish to honor my discomfort. It is significant to note there was a magician offering his tricks in the garden and expecting to get paid for his show by hotel guests. I must say I've never seen this before in hotel. The food in restaurants was bland and uninspired. Service was mediocre and attention superficial. The hotel clearly needs external support to get back together. The other Taj hotels are so refined and clearly better administration should review why this hotel does so poorly. The lobby is often jampacked with tourists checking in and checking out giving a feeling of being in less of a boutique hotel and rather being in a commercial Marriott in Nashville Tennessee.

Room Tip: don't accept the first room that your offered and make sure the room is sunny and airy
