A friend and I visited the Rambagh Palace for a business meeting and we were so enamoured of the utter beauty and charm of the place that we chose to have a quick meal in their multi cuisine restaurant. We were greeted very well until a catering assistant came to take our order. We ordered a Thai Green Curry and a Vietnamese Soft Noodles and the order taker says to us with a dramatic raise of his eyebrows: " Is that all you are going to order? Are you sure?". We were both taken aback and rather embarrassed as his tone made us feel like we were not worthy enough to be sitting in the hallowed portals of his restaurant. I wanted to leave immediately or at least to take it up with someone higher up at the restaurant but my friend did not want to create any unpleasantness as he is a known face in the travel and tourism circles. I sincerely believe that no guest should suffer this ignominy, regardless of what they order. Just to add that the bill was close to Rs. 2000 so it was not like we could not afford a meal there. I hope that some action is taken about this waiter who brought down the whole experience to a bad memory of the Rambagh Palace for us.
