Cons: This is a budget hotel in a not-very-great part of town. Women are not safe in this area at night but would be fine with a male companion or group. Most of the staff does not seem to speak much English, so it's a little difficult to communicate. Front desk staff does not smile.
Pros: The rooms were clean and atleast a little hot water was available to shower. The porter was very sweet, so even though he did not speak any English, this is no reason to fault him and I though he did a great job. Maybe a little overbearing by western standards (he wanted to come in to my room and turn the TV on for me every night) but I think that is the Indian way of caring for others.
Be aware that, as many hotels in India, they will demand to keep your passport for a period of time. This is to make a color copy. If you are uncomfortable leaving it with them, bring color copies with you.
This hotel does not have a restaurant but they will get food for you on request. If you don't pay for breakfast to be brought in, they will provide buttered bread and masala chai for free.More
