Though not fully refurbished, this well known and popular spot of south Mumbai is a good one for an outing. The whole of the Marine drive's walking area has not been done up yet but what has been completed is good for walking, running or just sitting and watching the traffic or the Arabian sea on the other side. Popular as the area is, it is crowded at all times of the day! There is space though for everyone and the boundary wall abutting the sea has comfortable seating. Hawkers selling beverages and snacks abound. At the southern part of the Marine Drive, parking along the road is possible, but as one heads north, this is not an option. One can spend many hours at the Marine Drive just sitting and watching life go by or even take a drive from one end to another, preferably on a weekend when the road is likely to have less traffic. This is one of the most iconic Mumbai roads which is fairly well maintained, popular and must see on the list of any visitor to Mumbai. An evening visit has the added advantage of revealing the lights dotting the road, which give it the popular moniker - Queen's Necklace. Anytime of the day is good enough for a visit to the Marine Drive.
